Completely agree that the EU has started its death spiral, but it's going to be a fair length of time before it's actually dead and it can do a lot of damage in its last few years - especially with the more treasonous, remoaner, elements desperately trying to keep it alive. By supporting fragmentation of member states the EU tips the borderline nations withing it (i.e. the majority of countries in the EU, even France is starting to get cold feet) into full Europhobic mode. They need to support Spain to keep their own power intact. Are you new to politics? A politicians first concern is maintaining and expanding their own power and influence - most of them may enjoy being the complete cockwaffle that makes them, but it's not the point for them.

Just because politicians will happily lie when it serves their purpose doesn't mean they can't be honest when that serves their purpose.

What most people miss is that the EU is the definitions of "lions led around by donkeys".

Yes the balkanization of Europe, creating euroregions ruled from Brussel, bypassing the Nations "that are the source of all evil" has been on the agenda since day one.

But the same people that have that agenda honestly believe this shit is gonna fly without igniting civil wars everywhere because people are so tolerant and smart now.
