Blades more than 5.5 inches in length are being permitted for open-carry in public places. The law, though, prohibits swords and machetes in most bars, schools, colleges, sporting events, polling places, race parks, correctional facilities, hospitals, amusement parks and places of

That doesn't stop the Knights of Columbus (or any other self-styled knightly order, for that matter) from sending out armed honor guards to churches when ceremony requires it.

Anyway, most of what constitutes modern 'dress' attire is descendant from various pieces of military kit. The question we should be asking is, how do we meme 'open carried sidearms' into the mix? Imagine a world where wearing a blade or pistol on one's hip is as accepted and ubiquitous in "business culture" as is wearing a tie around one's neck.

Hopefully never, melee duels only encouraged that the physically strongest people could utterly crush everyone else beneath their feet regardless of whether their actions were right, wrong, or even conducive to a continued society, romanticized by people who want to go back to a time when they could straight up murder someone else for even disagreeing with them.

Cut the kydex to the basic outline then use a heat gun to soften and work it into shape.

No, I specifically designed it with a big enough hilt to accommodate two hands (with gloves) if I desired as well as balance it better. The overall size makes it light enough that I can swing it around with one hand but still big enough that I can make use of two hands.

You do know that duelling laws were mostly set up to *limit* the number of duels right? They were written to define a limited number of events within which a duel would be legal. This was mostly needed because the young noblemen in many European countries (especially France) were killing each other in duels over petty bullshit You bumped into me accidentally in the street, DIE YOU BLAGGARD! so often that entire family lines were in danger of being wiped out. This number only increased for young military officers, particularly cavalrymen.

>>515467

>pistols at dawn for rivals such as Hillary and Trump.

You can't let your politicians start duelling, you'll need a general election every other day when they're in session. It's the reason the Palace of Westminster, specifically the House of Commons, was designed the way it was, MPs are not permitted to cross the red line in front of their benches except under very specific circumstances, and the two red lines were carefully placed just a little over two sword lengths away from each other.

They weren't using handguards the same reason why the romans to the normans weren't either. Dumb churkas were still using shields and armor.

Also you'd think wearing a glove thick enough to protect you from other big fucking sabers would remove some dexterity.

18th century fencers liked to wear gauntlets on their off hand.

A mailed glove is enough for protection, without the inconvenience of the non-rotational sword guard.

Many sword guards were made up of Brass instead of Steel, so they were basically useless and only worked for light impacts, the rapier benefited from it, but not the saber - they were also "fashionable".

The Russian Cossacks used to use Sabers, but changed to the Shashkas because they were lighter, more powerful (the point of balance was farther away from the hilt, which meant a greater momentum force) and were straighter.

Actually, the first Sabers were too curved, because they were 100% slash oriented because they were used by armour-less cavalries of the Orient, so Slash was king.

In Europe, they had a tradition of Thrusting, and armour/shield against Slash, so the very curved Sabers were very inefficient, and it showed in the Saber design throughout the years: it got straighter and straighter, even though they were using them for cavalry charge.

The Shashka was straighter than the standard Sabers of the time in Russia, so it was a huge success because of that as well.

Pic related:

This was armored. Most of the uniforms with these horizontal cords were actually armored against Slash, as these cords were either made of metal or they had a thin metal plate inside it.

I do know that an officer's clothing from our fun times of 1848 and 1849 had some 100 metres of gold threads in it, so it was indeed a form of light armour. Actually, the full uniform of hussars gave them quite a lot of protection, as it evolved over centuries to both look great and protect against swords. Also, in 1848-49 our hussars had a good 50% chance against Austrian heavy cavalry, because their level of protection wasn't that far away when it came to melee, and they had a fokos against heavily armoured foes.
