What do you think of Shotguns?
a89a34 No.506619
I think you should go fellate one.

While fun, they're the gun that brings out the most retardation in people. The Glock 22 is a very distant second.

Still not understanding why a pump action shotguns are seen as more dangerous. Probably just because they're the big scary ones that make scary noises

You know it's funny, for the longest time Bolt action shotguns were the cheap alternative to a pump or break barrel. When manufacturing techniques changed they were dropped, now they're coming back as overgrown and overpriced 'precision' shotguns.

Arguably the best close-range man-stopper, a great multi-purpose gun, and generally pretty cheap. I love shotguns.

Naturally manually operated guns are largely dependent on the operator, but certain systems are more conducive to quick cycling than others.
I'm not sure any leftist politician could make sense of that though, it might just be based upon the fact that all the evil looking tactical shotguns are pump action (or self loading), and bolt action guns are for hunters and don't look scary. Fudd mindset.

Pump action is somewhat quicker action from a standing position. However, it does have the disadvantage of being more difficult to cycle from a prone position, hence why it was less popular among firearms more dependent upon absolute precision. As a close-quarters trench/room cleaner, pump-action does the job better.

Shotguns have their pluses and minuses.
With slug, 00 Buck or #4 Buck they do very high damage to unarmored targets. Range is decent for two legged varmint, 25 yards for shot, 100 - 120 for slug.
Downside is very limited magazine capacity, high ammo weight and heavy recoil.
They can be inexpensive compared to rifles, but with ARs coming down in price that's less of a concern than it used to be.
Generally more of a thing in fudd country, since not subject to baninations.

Slugs are kind of expensive and there aren't and many trap/skeet shooting ranges in europe. Also I don't get why shotguns in UK get special treatment, you can't assasinate a royalty from distance with a shotgun ? They're more complicated ? People who made gun legistlations had their grandpappies shoot skeet ? Would be glad if a britfag explained it to me, thanks

'muh hunting', that's all it is, politicians here think that you need a reason to own guns, and shotguns are commonly used for hunting here.
They also banned slugs and large sized-shot, so you can pretty much only get birdshot here anyway

There's the decade long megathread on the fire ling line forums documenting Hubel's adventures. He's managed to do a lot of insane things with that round, like pushing a 325gr sabot to almost 4000fps. IIRC some of the falling blocks have managed to withstand even higher chamber pressures to reach over 14,000ft/lbs.

TAP reduced recoil works pretty well. Faster follow up shots due the low recoil, and it actually does more damage to unarmoured targets in home-defense ranges because there is less over-penetration. If you ever see yourself defending a larger property, also have some full power buckshot in a side saddle for farther (but still CQB) engagements.
