He and his brother were down working on a dam project, not sure if fish ladders or something. He got a day off and decided to go fishing early in the morning. He decided to go about 16 miles off-site, and the roads in that area are farm highways just like mine; he died in the same State, btw. Anyway, they're roads with about 6 inches of pavement off the white line if that, then a shoulder drop of roughly a foot or more because it's rolling hills. He wound up probably falling asleep on a corner and rolled the pickup a number of times, and was inevitably ejected from the vehicle. It's an old story I've heard a few times in high school, when its happened to students. I've only heard of one survivor. Anyway, State Patrol said that it probably wouldn't have mattered if he were wearing his belt, because the vehicle rolled so many times, but I call bullshit because it still makes a difference. He must've gone quite a ways, but it must've been head/brain trauma or something because his body wasn't mutilated. I went to the funeral a couple of days ago and it was an open casket; I realize they use makeup but there didn't seem to be a scratch on him, and his neck didn't seem to be broken.
His boss was driving down that road and was the first to find him.
His wife is destroyed, as is his mother/my sister. He leaves behind a daughter who's far too young to even understand the concept of what's going on (still a baby), and some in the family are theorizing that it's possible he may have another on the way. Baseless theories, but there's still time to see. Believable though because he was crazy about her.
