I don't think the OP was actually asking if we can be friends. That sounded like a tongue in cheek way of asking hey aren't we the same? Maybe we are more compatible than the other Christian denominations?

Islam is supposed to be an extension of Christianity without contradictions. There are contradictions with many Christian denominations but maybe OP was asking if Mormonism can be that compatible version of Christianity that Islam is supposed to be an extension of?

Why? As a Muslim I love comparing Islam to other religions. Is that bad? Is it bad for nonmuslims to compare their religion with Islam? Seems to me that this is one of the best ways to find common ground and have friendly relations with others.
