why take the risk? even if he was a prophet he wasn't to the whole mankind just his people.

he wasn't sent*

eb85d2 No.17010

all prophets are sent to the whole of mankind in some sense.

eb85d2 No.17012

No because even if he was his message would have been diluted by now.

eb85d2 No.17019

Prophet? No. Messenger? Maybe.

And for every Ummah (a community or a nation), there is a Messenger; when their Messenger comes, the matter will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be wronged. (Qur'ân 10:47)

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e., do not worship Taghut besides Allah)." Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). (Qur'ân 16:36)

Kaffir here. I'll tell ya what: I've tried listening to the Qur'an being recited with tajwid and everything.

For me, still doesn't come close to this classic mantra celebrating the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara.

I recommend starting 38 seconds in. It's repetitive; a mantra, after all.

If you don't know 100% if he was a prophet then you shouldn't. So no.

That's nice, but this isn't /buddha/ or /rel/. We don't do comparative religious studies here and this isn't a springboard to convert Muslims to other religions.

>was Buddha true prophet

No way.

>in islam opinion if I listen to him, I will be okay??

No. He was a renowned preacher, no doubt, but as Muslims it's important to remember that Satan has preachers too.

>No way.

You're claiming knowledge of the unseen. Don't do that.

eb85d2 No.17138

Siddharta Gautama believed in reincarnation. Buddhist beliefs are fundamentally incompatible with Islamic ones.

Yes, Islam tells us not to claim knowledge of the uneen. But we can -see- that Buddhist beliefs contradict the Quran.

>Siddharta Gautama believed in reincarnation.

1. Reincarnation is a disputed belief within Buddhism to this very day.

2. We have no idea what Buddha believed. The earliest Buddhist scriptures were not written until centuries after his death.

We cannot say whether Buddha was a prophet or not. It's a complete unknown.

>But we can -see- that Buddhist beliefs contradict the Quran.

Christian beliefs contradict the Qur'an. That doesn't mean Sayyidina Isa ibn Maryam (alayhis salam) wasn't a prophet.

Buddha is not mentioned in Qur'an. Jesus is mentioned in Qur'an.

That's all the answer you need. Otherwise, >>>/rel/

eb85d2 No.17246

Buddha teaches a much purer form of spiritualism. If you want pure spiritualism, learn about him. Do not bother trying to understand modern Buddhist. They're egotistical.

eb85d2 No.17248

>>17246

what do you mean by spiritualism?

eb85d2 No.17249

>>17248

Spiritualism is the belief in a divine presence without actually believing in God. Like those people who meditate on the trees, but refuse to acknowledge the Creator.

eb85d2 No.17266

Muslim's also believe that 124,000 prophets were sent to people around the world.

They weren't all mentioned by name in the Qur'an.

>124,000

Check your sources, friend. That comes from a very weak hadith.

continued…: but buddhism lacks a personal God, and a "meaning to life" and this is kind of disappointing, because I find it very useful otherwise

The Buddha taught some very nice and useful things, but he's not a Prophet in Islam. My father taught me some nice and useful things, but he certainly wasn't a Prophet.

It's authentic, actually.

Every source I've checked puts it as a weak hadith.

Buddhism wasn't even a religion when it started out, ffs. Gautom was a prince who was surprised by food webs and started meditating. After some time, he came to the conclusion that everything dies and is reborn as something else and this is a continuous cycle.

That was nothing but a half-assed philosophical theory and since indians are so obsessed with their sadhus and stuff, they later started to worhip him. Buddhists' idea of god is very different from our idea of God.

They are basically polytheists. And that whole thing about all buddhists being completely pacifist is exaggerated as well. They literally have temples high in the mountains where they teach children to fight from a young age. Asians throughout history have recruited buddhist monks as mercenaries to fight in their wars.

tl;dr, buddha was basically a prince who became a philosopher and people took every far-fetched thing he said, even further.
