The monsters are a part, but they aren't my real complaint.
I always enjoyed the Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones stories, so don't think that's my issue with it.
The story in the Uncharted Series are fairly contrived, and Nathan Drake himself seems to do things that are outright against his better interest. In the first game it wasn't as present, but by the time you're halfway into the 3rd game like I am you can't help but be annoyed by it.
So basically you're treasure hunting for something that has faded away into the realms of secrecy and rumors, why is there always some other major asshole going after it at the same time as you. In the first game it's shown that they are only doing so because Victor told them about the lead due to the debts, well enough. In the second game though for some reason a WarLord with a private army faked his own death and is risking everything he has on a legends that no matter how much resources he throws at the wall he can't find. this is ignoring the fact that he has to continue pretending to be dead otherwise the entire UN will shit stomp him. In the third game you have a secret organization that has been hunting for this treasure for 400 years apparently, and I guess any progress is only happening now? Like these bad guys just don't feel natural; they feel like a creation in order to justify the gameplay. That's largely forgivable though if it wasn't for the fact that Drake will never kill the bad guy until after THEY ALREADY FIND THE FUCKING THING. Like how many situations did he have where he could've kill BadGuy #2, but never pulled the trigger for whatever reason. Like there was a point where they found Shambala, and the BadGuy is about to drink the tree semen that will make him invincible. Drake has a perfect shot, he's unseen, and the BadGuy is too busy staring at the tree semen to actually do anything. Drake literally just sits there and lets the big mean guy drink the shit so there can be an end game boss fight. Like Drake literally killed though potentially 1000's of guys to get to this point there is an ingame counter so I'm not being an exaggerator when I say this 1000's and you hesitate every time you have a chance to actually end it. So just saying, the story is fine if it wasn't for the fact that the badguys have literal plot armor and everything is made to form around Drake in some weird way that would never happen in a realistic sense.
The gameplay when looked as a whole is fun, but when separated is dumb. It's just boss areas where guys spawn in and you either work off a kill counter to progress in the story or a fight timer. I'm used to that shit with God of War, but this game isn't GoW. It's a game that I expect to have actual goals I can push towards. The climbing parts aren't bad, but Drake controls like shit, and I die on those parts literally 100 times more than I ever actually die in combat. And finally the gunplay is actually bad, and I don't know why the guns feel so bad.
