You just don't get that with Nvidia on Linux as far as I know.

And this old Pitcairn chip still runs everything I throw at it decently.

But really, I don't really know how graphical installers look nowadays, but if they're still similar, you should be able to remove what you don't want if you go through the "advanced" options

When I did have to use windows, I found that making a window active now required a mouse button click, and having to resize a window or move it, required you to move the cursor to specific areas of the selected window. I found this to be a huge annoyance on a laptop.

I didn't know of them either. The only reason I did, was because the installer told me about them, so I memorized them.

Oh? Windows10 allows you to scroll inside a window to make it active, so that's one upgrade at least.

Nope, I use Shutter to take screenshots. Can take a screenshot of a selected window, which that was.

You can play RS3 too. Jagex also released their NeXT client, but it depends on some old libraries last I checked, so you might have to do a bit of hacking to get it to work.

From personal experience and that of friends', you shouldn't update the nvidia driver unless you really have a reason to anyway. Newer updates tends to cripple older cards and makes older games run crappier, and they have a hard time taking regressions seriously.

I suppose it makes their new cards look better than they actually are.

And customers fall for it hook, line and sinker every time

You can keep all your files separate from the OS installation, so if you do a reinstall, all your files will still be intact.

It's one reason many Linux distributions during partitioning offers to create a separate partition for /home. Should you reinstall, all your configurations, game safe files and user-specific data, will still be present. And if you install a program, then your settings will be applied right off the bat.

So after a "clean" install, if you start Firefox, then you'll have your browsing history, your addons, your UI customization and everything.

Same applies to games

>X220T

So you do~

I just replaced my oldass W520 for a Latitude 5480. I'm quite happy with it.

>I really didn't wanna start over with OSRS when I felt like getting back into RS

Me neither, but had a friend who said it was significantly better. After playing RS3 enough, I thought I might as well give it a go, so I logged into OSRS with the same account I use for RS3 (you can have both on the same account, so your membership apply for both RS3 and OSRS), then created an Ironman. I ended up playing nothing but OSRS for a year and a half, sinking 2600 hours into it. I love it a lot more than RS3.

But I always loved the grinding, and I like how almost everything is polled and how nothing gets implemented unless 75% of the community votes in approval of it.

Yes. It was always part of Runescape back then. Everything you see except one row of pixel around the edge, and the top bar telling the name of the window, is the game.

Yeah, Xubuntu tended to break every upgrade for me too, so I decided to just try out Debian Sid, as fixes always seemed to come out with a new Ubuntu upgrade, but which also brought in new bugs. Funny enough, Debian Sid was always a lot more stable for me.

After an upgrade, my screens wouldn't even light up on Windows, just being all black. Had to do a full reinstall. Since then, I always experienced graphical glitches, so thought "meh", might as well try out AMD. Mining is hot now anyway so why not.

A friend borrowed the "broken" cards, but in his machine there wasn't any problems at all.

Then shortly after, another friend was experiencing the same with his cards. Then it happened to a third.

A fourth had to keep around 7 different drivers has each one had their own sets of issues with different games, so depending on the game he wanted to play, he had to install another driver.

All of them went with AMD too, and I've not heard complaints since.

And here I thought it was AMD with "no drivers"…. It's even truer on Linux

>open source kernel driver shared by both the professional proprietary userspace driver, and consumer open-source userspace driver

>driver developed and maintained by AMD, RedHat, volunteers, Valve and Feral

I don't care if Nvidia may have faster cards hardware wise and may be 15% faster in some games when they still have issues during regular desktop usage, such as windows lagging if you move them around, and older games ending up breaking mysteriously as well.

The level of support is just impressive, really. I wouldn't give it up even if someone handed me a free RTX 2080

Huh, with older RS I can see it now really. But again been playing RS3 and they don't have that on there.

I probably need to reinstall Xubuntu or something else on my x220t. I heard debian testing is a pretty good bet, never releases and don't risk too much bugs. Funny the unstable version gives you less trouble.

That's a pretty fucked up upgrade, hope I don't run into that. All of those experiences sound fucked up. Especially the 7 different drivers one.

They don't have "drivers" for games basically. Not that those drivers for Nvidia mean shit when they make the game carter to fucking Nvidia cards. Also the Nvidia open source drivers are shit too. Can hardly run Portal on higher settings on Linux. Which is why I'm thinking of going for AMD.

Yeah, running Testing on laptop right now rather than Sid, and it's been pretty solid too.

Yep, Nvidia doesn't really have an open-source driver.. It's 100% done by the community and even the firmware is reverse-engineered, until Nvidia shut that down.. Barely any manufacturer still produce laptops with clits. It's almost exclusive to HP, DELL enterprise-series laptops and Lenovo T and W series Thinkpads now.

Yep, and with a console, you got the advantage of the developers having targeted your exact hardware, so you're sure that the game will squeeze out every last bit of performance out of what your console is capable of. Not to mention smaller overhead than what you get with a PC.

At least that's how it used to be, when devs were less lazy and consoles didn't ship as a "media box". I mean, Gran Turismo 4 was a 1080i game on a fucking PS2 and it ran without lagging.

Nah, silly. I just do everything on my own :3

Combat is such a meme now in RS3.. Equip a shield and you don't need food. Use abilities and initialize combat with an ability, and you won't use arrows or runes if you're ranging or using magic.

Kinda prefer the old prayer-flicking.

Heh, it seems with each new release, skilling becomes easier and easier. That's also why I just abandoned ship.. Getting 99 in a skill should feel accomplishing, and it just doesn't in RS3.

Not sure if you can tell but I'm pc-biased. But yes for devs it's easy to work with consoles since it tends to be the same and they know what to work with. Problem is they just get outdated too early, and devs won't/don't make the pc version too much better except some texture quality.

Consoles are just a poor man's gaming pc!

So yes. c:

Most tend to favour PC's. I'm too, but consoles got more games than a Linux PC~

and if I gotta shell out 70% of a PS4 for a license to play PC games that's more optimized on the consoles, I'd rather just shell out what remains.

Dying happens more often in OSRS too, but they patched it so your stuff doesn't disappear for half an hour, so you can run back and grab it.

But that's past experience. Now you don't have to write your own Xorg.conf file in order to set up your monitors!

Business laptops are better built though.

Ah, right, you're kind of screwed when it comes to games and Linux. At that point a console is probably worthwhile. Pfft, more optimized. More like lazy fags! But don't ask me, I got a ps4 too. :^)

Wow, that sounds like some modern shit right there. Though I'd imagine people would be pissed about that too, as it was something that made RS RS. With WoW you can die and nothing fucking happens.

I like my story in games so RS3 also attracted me with that, but dang they've gotten wacky with it from what I've heard and read. Not sure what they'll do with OSRS, besides more monkeys.

Gnome was interesting, but no desktop icons sorta bother me even if it shouldn't. Got KDE on my desktop but haven't messed with it too much.

I only wish I could write my own xorg.conf file. It's probably easy, but I'm too lazy.

Desktop* :^)

All right so here's your potential options.

1) Take that laptop hdd out and stick it in your desktop. You don't really have to secure it, just make sure it's balanced and stable enough for a few hours. You can secure if you want though. Find a HDD copying program, there's quite a few out there. Last time I used Samsung's but it was because I bought an SSD from them so not sure how exclusive it is. Either way it should be pretty safe and you basically copy your drive to the new one and it should work exactly the same.

2) You just get a backup solution. Stuff like clonezilla, there's other programs like it too, should work fine but it can be scary because it's works like a live cd. You'd probably want to be able to watch/read a manual/tutorial on it so you can do the basics of what you want without screwing anything up. It can take a while to process too. Yet with things like Clonezilla it's a 1:1 thing. You backup 10gbs to something, you need 10gb storage at least. It does no compression, at least with programs like Clonezilla. And other program is with that is I wouldn't do the backup on the drive you want to restore to either. You can do it if you have the space, but just afraid something might screw up which would lose your data. If there's multiple partitions that would make it a bit better. Anyways with a solution you probably want three data storage units to make it safe and easy.

Clonezilla might also have a copy solution, but I usually just do the backup and restore options on it if I mess with it. It actually has quite a few options, but most of them I never messed with. From what I can gather it sounds like what you have been trying to do is the same as option 2, but that flashdrive just isn't big enough. It Won't compress the data, so you need drive as the amount of data your drive currently has or more to save to the new one.

Hopefully half of this makes sense.

Would be more optimized. Easier to optimize against one fixed set of hardware, but yeah, lazy fags too.

It's modern. They changed it because if you died from a disconnection, you were basically fucked. Now you still have to run back to get your stuff, but at least it'll be there for half an hour. They've talked about changing it so you can pay in order to get it back, even "secure" items in some events where they'd otherwise be lost forever. Basically gold sinks.

They released Great Kourend and is now expanding that with quests too. It's pretty neat, really http://oldschoolrunescape.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Kourend

You can get them back with an extension, like with everything else~

It's absurd, but haven't used desktop icons in forever so it wouldn't bother me personally.

It's annoying. Have to specify the device, and then specify offsets from another display, and specify which is the default monitor, and yadda yadda.

No need for it anymore though, thank God. Previously you had to, as the "monitor setup" functionality in both AMD's and Nvidia's driver just didn't work at all, and required you to logout as well

Or the companies don't pay enough for it, one of those.

Actually I'm thinking your stuff dropped when your dead even years back, it was just hope that half of it was there. But we're talking memories from years ago so who knows. They got something like that in RS3, but it's nothing I can afford.

Stuck in warframe atm, but it's sorta neat they added some different lore to OSRS. Makes it more worthwhile.

Too much stuff to fuck with, just give me it now ree!

Don't look at my desktop, it can look like chaos sometimes if I get lazy.

Maybe it doesn't sound that bad but still, it's a hassle to do such things.

Never mind you make it sound like hell. Now I wonder if you're older than me or if I'm just fucking stupid

None the less I'm not sure why I'm still up. I'm going to bed. Enjoy your day.

PCs have a million different combinations though. The consoles have 1 for each so it's a lot easier to target.

Although common API's have made it easier, but there's still a difference from card to card, from CPU to CPU.

It did, but it only stayed on the ground for like 2 minutes, making it almost impossible to get back before it became visible to everyone else~

They do, I recall it when I died during the time I played it.

They've got quite the dedicated development team, and the community is passionate about the game too. It's probably why I didn't really grow bored of it after playing it for a thousand hours nonstop.

hiragana is ろぬふあうえおやゆよわ etc

katakana is ロフアウエオヤユヨワ etc

Katakana is used for loan words from other languages like ロリ ”loli”

Hiragana is for words that dont have kanji and to add adjectives to kanji and particles, its a bit more complex than that and has more meaning but thats basically all you need to know

words like loli/anime are written in katakana because they arent japanese and often the sound effects you see on artwork is done in hiragana

New Mexico is probably one of the most American states out there, despite its name. The majority of the state's income comes from the military; we have some of the most significant military research bases second only to Nevada. We also have a bunch of poor ass people and a city full of rich ass people

Non-whites in the US tend to be liberal, but simply because we are still a majority white nation, I suppose most liberals are white.

Most large cities tend to be pretty liberal, even in redder states. Not as bad as places like SanFran or whatever of course.
