what new teams should be added to the mix?

/cow/ has a thread here >>2074

i know some anons wanted a /b/ team as do i

how should we format the cup?

like how many teams? should we do a baby cup? should it be seasonal or annual?

how do we decide eligibility?

now that the top 25 is gone how do we determine who can participate. it's no fun if a bunch of dead boards are competing.

we need more streamers

if we're to make another cup happen we need more people who can stream and hold a skype call.

What if we had a bunch of boards competing under the most popular tags and then the 'winners' of those tags face each other in the main cup?

For instance

The 'politics' group would include /pol/, /n/, /leftypol/ and /his/. The 'video-games' group would include /v/, /agdg/, /2hu/ and /civ/ (or a different combination), while the 'technology' group would include /tech/, /cyber/ /g/ and /netplus/

They would duke it out to see who would represent their tag. And then the winners of those tags would play in the main tournament. Sort of like a qualifying match.

I've kept the groups at four because (4*16)*2=128 and that's a lot of matches, not to mention the 16 matches of the main cup. With such a large number of teams (64), you may be more likely to have weird things happening, like /cyber/ versus /animus/ for the main cup

What are people's thoughts?

I suggest that whomever makes a team, gets in, however this process of "making" a team must be a board-minded process. This inherently makes all participating teams "big market teams", an issue that plagues the 4CC, but understandably so.

If an uneven number of teams get in, a qualification process for the larger tournament can be played out. For example; /tg/, /b/, /cow/, and /his/ make teams in time for an Autumn/Winter tournament. With 20 teams, we can take the bottom four teams from Summer and put them into two groups with the four new teams, with two teams from each "founding" playing in each group. Top two from each group moves on to the 16-team bracket.

This system, if you were curious, would mean that /tv/, /int/, /co/, and /furry/ would have to play in the qualifying round.

We can also schedule smaller sets of tournaments/friendlies to make sure that 8chan sees its favorite teams play at a higher frequency. This is a solution that can be easily solved with more streamers. Other than Cotton, I know that Haibane, the /christian/ manager, can stream perfectly, and I myself am looking into the avenue.

And, by no means, should we look to just "get bigger" for the sake of getting bigger. If a board shows up with interest, we add them. If a board doesn't want to compete, they don't. Short, sweet, to the point, should be the /icup/ way.

One thing I noticed was the guy streaming the other day was struggling with the goal songs, often fucking up with fading them out and swapping songs. I could easily make some sound bites that fade in/out and last ~40 seconds for the replay.

Maybe we could pick fairly active boards that aren't in the top 25, like /splat/ or something. There would be an invitational where these boards compete, and the winner gets a spot on the next tournament bracket.

Okay Ima put in my 2 cents on the topic of expansion.

My original idea was to expand to 32 and do year round games but that may affect schedules and there is no guarentee of additional streamers to alternate weekends to do this, so I had one idea that could be more benefitial and work a bit better to previous formats.

/icup/ Championship Series will probably stay the same in format, a single elimination bracket, however I feel that a good way to expand bracket sizes would be to host "Qualification Tournaments" which would decide on which teams would be added to the main event out of a crop of boards who want to make teams.

Qualifications would happen once enough teams register (let's say 16 for the first) and games would play during off-time from Cups and when we're able to expand and for the first if we expand to 24 we'd do a knockout for the 16 possible teams and the top 8 would be added to the main Cup and placements would determine who they face to play in the main Cup bracket.

It's not a super solid idea, but it's more of a suggestion.

Since we have no managers, we should do seasonal seasons (3 months instead of 6 like 4CC) until we reach 48 or 64 teams. then do it a 6 month basis as well.

As for small boards, I think we should only let boards above 25 active users get in and must not be an affiliate, so If /agdg/ wants a team, they should ask for a representative in the /v/ team, same for /splat/, /vp/, /vr/, etc.

It seems like reaching 24 or even 32 will be very easy considering the 1st cup isn't over and we have 4 boards making teams

I seriously think we should have babby cups as a relegation promotion system works well in divegrass, don't fix what's not broke you know.

I'd rather we not copy paste cuckchan's system and try something more unique.

>don't fix what's not broke you know.

There are many problems with their system including formatting. Personally the promotion/relegation system has been one of the many causes for 4cc's viewership drop and a better option would be simple promotion qualifier tournaments for new teams to add on to the main event. If we get more people who can stream and want to volunteer then maybe we can experiment with a completely different system.

I agree about board affiliate reps 100% though.

We shouldn't care about viewership, just that the boards that want to be in should BE IN and breaking into two pieces of two tiers is an easy way to do it.

Also, that is I am against /cow/ getting in the cup because their mods is just gonna push us to a post in the Meta thread where we will be ignored every cup, so the mods should agree for a separate thread, we don't "shit up boards", /cow/ doesn't want to be in the damn thing as we understand from their moderation team.

We shouldn't be doing Skype. Mumble is cross-platform, doesn't require registration, and is easier to record where necessary. It's also less of a drag on the computer, and every bit of power counts for whoever's running the game.

I'd love to stream, but I don't think my PC can take on PES15 for the kind of video quality we need. Then again, I don't own it, pic related. I'd also love to call play-by-play, but I know very little about soccer.

With the specific banjo song I know you're talking about, that was audibly laced with the moans of a loli. However, with cropped porn, if done correctly, the chance of a normalfag seeing it and thinking "lol look at the funny face" is still present. Though I will agree more board culture is good, /loli/ did get visited by the maker of Unteralterbach, so it isn't entirely lacking in board culture either. It's something to think about, anyway. Had some Format discussion with Cotton earlier. Here's what I've proposed:

>Qualifiers

Qualifiers are played between new teams and the teams whom have performed worst in the 2015 Summer Infinity Cup. For example, if /his/, /cow/, /fit/, and /n/ have their teams ready for the next cup, they would play against /monster/, /co/, /furry/, and /intl/ in some form of qualifier that would have four of the teams advance to the Round of 16. If five teams are new and ready, we throw /leftypol/ into the mix.

>Double-Elimination Bracket

/pol/ was -very- upset at the fact that, despite putting on a valiant showing, they were one-and-done in the cup. A double-elimination bracket for the top 16 teams would be near-perfect to ensure the number of games doesn't grow to exponential heights and teams are ensured to perform at least twice.

>Group Stages

If our popularity after this inaugural cup grows exponentially and more boards react as friendly as /fit/ has with thread stickies for team discussion/building, we could have eight or more boards be prepared for the next cup. At 24 teams, it becomes silly to play qualifiers for so many teams. Group Stages at this number of teams is a high-match count affair, but is the only fair option for the wide berth of teams to get a fair shot at a title.

24 teams is a perfect number, as we can then use the points teams garner in the GS as a seeding system, giving byes to the Quarters for the best-performing teams. A similar system was used in the 4CC's VGL2, and it looks like a very appropriate option for our organization.

Of course, with group stages, there will be no need for a 31-match Double Elimination KO round.

>Additional Streamers

Cotton has a life, and things are looking funky for his schedule in the coming months. As such, me and Haibane have been looking into streaming the Infinity Cup. After seeing the chat during the final today, I find it beneficial to have three streamers, even if they are reps, due to RIGGING. After a base schedule has been made, we can swap matches around to make sure that I"m not streaming /pone/, Haibane isn't streaming /christian/, and Cotton isn't streaming /a/.

Uhh meant 48 teams. And of course the setup assumed 16 teams directly qualified in the groups. 64 teams yields the same number of 96 matches, whether none is qualified for the groups or you have two QRs (32 in Q1 + another 16 in Q2).

Nice, would be nice to have a certain level of talent commenting, even if its just amateur/hobby.

I was wondering myself if they would hold auditions or something, I've worked for a couple podcasts before and my voice is silky smooth, plus I also am fluent in English even though it is not my first language.

I can hold auditions sure, however that'd probably happen once all the technical stuff is done (exports, planning of event dates and events, in-game content, promotional content) so I'll probably run quick 5 minute sample matches to get a feel for if the commentators are enjoyable and then set up a schedule.

If we actually manage to get 20 teams in the next edition of the cup, how is the tournament going to be structured?

We cant directly do elimination matches because with 20 teams the structure doesnt work out.

Maybe 4 groups of 5 teams, with 4 teams passing per group → QR -→ SF → Finals?

or same groups only two teams per group passing through meaning no QR, straight to semis?

We're aiming for 24.

Since steamer interest is starting to pickup I'd like to see a group stage, however if its only a 24 knockout what could happen is 12 advance then the top 4 winners in GD would get a bye (advantage for away and total goals if there's a tie) then the 8 remaining would play, and then the 4 who win would play the 4 bye teams in the QFs and then proceed as usual.

I remembered that you guys had trouble with getting the icup footage onto youtube.

Now I may have a solution against that.

Thanks to the contract I have as a youtube partner I can upload copyrighted material to a certain limit. Now, I will probably not be able to upload all matches but I should be able to upload highlights or summary's without having it blocked in a lot of country's and without it receiving copyright strikes.

I'm interested to hear what you guys think about this.

P.S.

because of the copyrighted material I won't gain any money from it

I mean aiming for 24 is good an all, however, we only currently have 20 confirmed teams right? Which other 4 boards are close to joining? Do we have a particular idea of which boards we'd like to see join?

Also, that sounds like an overly complicated scheme when it could easily be the way I mentioned, or 4 groups of 5 with only 2 teams passing straight to semis.

Bit of news now that we're back:

Both /tg/ and /wx/ are throwing ideas around, but yet again /cuteboys/ does not seem receptive to the tournament, and this was the third time I believe someone asked them about it.

They just don't care, so if things go for the best and everyone else gets a team in, both them and /hga/ would be the only two out.

Guess they don't give a shit about community events, unless someone else wants to try to convince them.

So apparently some PES16 info is out and now you can attach custom kits via the template directly to PES and without need for use of the DLC implementation method.

If we move to 16 only things needed for the DLC .cpk would be Faces and Stadiums. That move over will probably happen next year once assets for team creation are made. DLC should be fine as the layout looks to be the same as PES15.

We are not looking for real time management, just adding notes so the streamer has a guideline of sorts. Such as:

Change formation during subs if under the score.

But its not live managing. Its just being able to change the formation. It wouldnt even be live, I think Cotton describes it perfectly. Itd be a guideline that streamers wouldnt know before hand.

So say the streamer knows that in the 65th minute of every match /b/ plays, if they are under the score, to change the formation from x to y, because thats what b wants

Id say its pretty simple stuff, no manager drama, no unnecessary stopping of the match.

NO ONE cares about GETBall, /sp/.

The reason most 4channers hate is due to how close we are to GamerGate and how it brought hundreds of Ledditors from r/KiA and shit

The reason why 4CC hates us is how this cup started and how this cup is a pretty much a haven for banned 4CC managers or is influenced heavily by it, Rarifag is the /pone/ manager, Canadafag (now Cotton) is the 2nd biggest man to make it happen, Tucker is in the /co/ team, There was rumors of Dragonfag being in this cup under a proxy, etc.

We won't see a 8CC vs 4CC cup until, gamergate shit dies down and ledditors fuck off back and/or people with 4CC affiliations start retiring (e.g. Cotton) and the cup is hosted and managed entirely by new blood.

For now I'd recommend anyone who wants to possibly be part of the Streamer Team to set up a test stream, it doesn't even have to be PES just something to show you have the figurative ability to stream games that have a similar CPU/GPU demand on them. If we can get more streamers to help out then we could look to set up /icup/ II as a longer event as long as people are dedicated enough to doing it.

Try to see if anyone on /cow/ would be interested in Repping, making a logo and/or making kits for the team.

/islam/ aren't completely done yet as bench haven't gotten designated positions yet and starters aren't definitive role positions either so the /islam/ rep needs to either get the export done or let me know positions beforehand so I can get templates done so its easier for Reps to take time to decide on general strategies and cards.

Maybe look into /cyber/ and /55ch/ since they also were interested in case other boards fall out or even to have some spaces for a later expansion.

Finally I'm writing up new default rulesets for /icup/ II and gonna take some time to review the current ruleset with Saviour. Should be uploaded by the weekend if all goes well.

Got a thread going again on /r9k/ last night so here's to that. I think interest from /mu/ has waned. /tg/ stuff is all done and in the official thread here, just need to know what to do next. /cow/ has their thread going too. /tech/ is one that needs to be picked up again.

Now I already talked about boards who didn't want to do this, /cuteboys/ who were hostile towards the idea and /wx/ who just don't care for it or have a consistent userbase. How do you guys feel about general boards like /homosuck/ and /animus/ who always linger near the end of the top 25? /hga/ has dropped off the map and were not offered anything due to them not caring about our site.

I know users are apprehensive to boards like /hebe/ getting a team cause reasons I guess, but /loli/ did just slip in to the 25th position.

Would like to hear your opinions.

You might want to take a look at tactics:

Also, your bench doesn't have roles assigned to them. And please use the appropriate terms for player roles.

I'm not opposed to any board on this site getting a team, period, but I am almost entirely sure you will have much more luck convincing /loli/ to make a team than /hebe/. /hebe/ purposely asked to be left out of the top 25, after all; they'd intentionally be trying to keep to themselves.

Quick question:

How do I test out a kit? Do I just replace a pre-existing kit, or do I have to more? I'm trying to test out the /fit/ kit.

So with all the visual and roster stuff besides bench roles done and dropped in the official thread, what do we do next?

>>3288

Are you going to be helping us set up the export perhaps?

>>3289

Back during the set up to the first tournament, there were talks with admin to set up a thread to make a team, nothing ever came from it, so someone else made a thread later and garnered no response. Now on the lead up to this one I made a thread there a while ago to see if they were interested since they are one of two boards besides /hga/ and /animus/ in the top 25 that don't have a team. This was back when /tg/ started the preparations and even /mu/ was starting to consider. The answers I got from several users there were basically go away, thread never got bumped and deleted a couple days later.

I've just come to accept that they hate anything to do with community projects that aren't taking pictures and only want to stare at cocks.

It looks like you're done.

>>3292

Yes, you need to replace the existing kit in order to use it in-game. /fit/ doesn't have a team allocated to it, but that should be fixed in the next official EDIT.bin export. For now just use any team.

I can't mess around with stats since I'm already a team rep. However I could do faces with the in-game editor. Keep in mind that it's kinda limited. Alternatively I can put in the boxheads /pone/ was using last time. Just put a picture in the front and you're good to go.

For stats and stuff you'll have to talk to Cotton.

Unless you make a /britpol/ board we can't sadly since this is strictly a board involved event and can't just have two teams for the same board even if the content differs they're still directly connected more then say /pol/ and /leftypol/.

But if you guys made a /britpol/ board then it'd be fine but many on /pol/ would likely be against it but it doesn't hurt to try.

Here's a question.

I understand that, at max, three character-specific goalhorns and a main goalhorn are allowed, along with an anthem. Would it also be okay if a team assigns a specific song that is played if they win the cup?

Someone made a /britpol/ board ages ago but no one could be bothered to use it.

Also as far as the distinction goes we've got entirely different politics, memes, and trips. The roster and kits for /pol/ as it is bear little to no representation for brit/pol/.

Given the fact that there are boards with far less posters than a single reoccurring thread participating it doesn't seem that odd.
