Aha! Yes, I had thought earlier that it was probably a guy, but I didn't realize about voice conversion being a thing.

You're probably one of those folks who also complains about male voiced files, because it is hard to trance to them. If I was a tist I would also change my voice or use tts to be relevant to more people.

Why would you want to exclude a large part of your potential audience if the only problem is your voice being too deep.

Who exactly you are able to trance to is more of a question of attitude and being able to ignore anything but the content of the file you want to listen to because let's be real, you probably aren't supporting the artist either way.

The other post is correct. Provocatively speaking gender is the social construct while sex refers to one's biology. You can "change" your gender and adjust your body/biology to fit your (self) image better, which ironically is considered a sex change or at least will let you change that part of your passport in some countries, but you can't make a biological male a biological female or vice versa as of now.

Makes me wonder if some day a full biological transition may be possible and how people of different parts of the spectrum would deal with it's existence.

I'm a heterosexual male, a 1 at most on the Kinsey scale. But I listen to 54m4nth4 B4nd|3r, Athalia, Elena, etc as much or probably more than I listen to cis female voices. I lean toward suspecting they have a deeper grasp of male sexuality and know how to play to it. The fact that they might be or maybe used to be male does not bother me. The voice I'm hearing is female, and past that I just don't care.

This state of mind is liberating. I am able to enjoy more stuff than some of you who are, let's be honest, so homophobic that you're scared to death to admit that you could be turned on by some sexy as hell stuff.

An interesting way of framing your problem is, rather than fret about "authenticity" or "honesty" when it comes to gender, think about what you're missing out on.

I can't trance to some male and some female voices because the characteristics like depth or accent don't resonate with me, but as long as I like a voice, which is preferably female in my case, I'm not going to forbid myself to enjoy the file due to the fact that the person who created it and maybe is even using tts isn't the sex I'm attracted to.
