I haven't been able to trance ever really, but I'm working on it. I tend to have trouble getting out of my head so to speak. I think a lot of my problem has been actually focusing on the words and "thinking" about them rather than trying to calm my mind and just let the words be there.
You should try working on meditation, just basic stuff. Close your eyes (not listening to hypno) and try to just calm your mind. When a thought comes into your head acknowledge it and just brush it aside. Don't feel upset about "failing", just move on and eventually you'll probably get better at doing so.
Also practice consciously entering a hypnagogic state. That's the state where you've started to fall asleep but you do so with your mind still awake with your body asleep. You'll eventually start to see colors behind your eyelids and many people can eventually start to enter lucid dreams from this state. Lay back with your eyes closed in a quiet space and keep your body still. You may feel the urge you scratch yourself or move but just ignore it and it will go away (unless you're legitimately in an uncomfortable position that will make you actually sore). This time keep your focus on something whether it's the back of your eyelids, some white noise, just counting in your head to 100 and starting over when you get there or you lose track. Anything to keep your mind awake while your body falls asleep.
I believe reliably being able to do these two things will aid your ability to enter trance, not that I would know but it's what I'm working on right now. I tend to actually be falling asleep now during files and waking up after they're over which is new but less than ideal.
The other thing is to just accept everything rather than trying to fight against it. I've had a fetish for HFO/premature ejaculation forever and I think it's conditioned me to sort of fight against it or try to force it rather than just letting it happen.
Remember that hypnosis isn't "real", it's what you make of it. However just as masturbating to something can give you a fetish, hypnosis can do the same thing or reinforce them. I was MtF for a while and eventually I realized transitioning wasn't for me but sissy hypnosis kept me going down that path longer than it should have. I'm not suggesting that's the case for you, especially since you're new here, but take the time to occasionally ask yourself if your fetishes are negatively impacting your life. Hypnosis seems to have a way to stealthily reinforce these things as being in the scenario is your entire experience rather than watching something while pretending etc.
Oh one last thing. I remember reading something a while ago about sort of telling yourself the situation is real or that hypnosis has worked for you in the past and things like that, then trying to "forget" that you were just telling yourself that and it wasn't the case. We all know cases about implanted memories and they're obviously just memories that people are led to believe are legitimate. Lead yourself to believing they're legitimate.
tldr
>practice meditation and entering hypnagogic state
>just try to accept everything and not fight against it or focus too heavily on it, just enough to keep you from completely falling asleep
>pretend you're an observer in your own mind
>convince yourself it's worked before or experiences are/were real
>take a break from time to time and ask yourself if you're going too far down the rabbit hole
