There's no set number. It depends on the file and what your limits are. There isn't really a hard cap on what the "full effect" is, and sometimes the stars will align and you'll get a better effect one time than you do the next. Generally though, 3-5 times with one hypnotist will help you get into their stuff, if they're good. Sometimes it's obvious, like when you experience vertigo while sitting down, or sometimes if it's a good session you're so blank that the question "do you know" is kind of a pointless one.

You don't. Honestly don't worry about it. This was (and still sometimes is) the biggest obstacle I had to achieving trance; worry about achieving trance.
The best thing to do is to just sit down, make sure you're comfortable, warm, and aren't going to be disturbed (and won't have to pee, aren't hungry etc.) and then just sit back and listen/watch. Don't worry about what's supposed to happen, just enjoy what DOES happen, whatever that is. Maybe it won't be trance, maybe you won't get that HFO, don't worry about it. Just enjoy it. Tragically, this is probably the best way to go the deepest into trance.
I spent way too many years constantly trying to force myself to trance or whatever while listening and all my best sessions were when I was tired as fuck or out of it on cold meds or whatever and didn't have the energy to worry about how it was going.

Don't even worry about your mind wandering. There's lots of stuff it's still hearing, I promise. A lot of it is still going to work.
As for how to make things better and go deeper, I have three suggestions for a beginner:
1. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.
2. Experiment! Different things work with different people. Some people can't trance well to videos. I'm ADHD, so I trance MUCH better if something is distracting my eyes, I think this is why the SamBan files are so effective for me. It sounds like you did trance, actually. Trance isn't a box you check, it's more like a scale or some such. You go into various degrees of trance throughout your day while you're driving, watching TV, shitposting on imageboards, etc.
I'd reccomend trying a video file with a flashing light or swinging watch or something that will force you to close your eyes. You'll know you're in trance when they lock shut and you can't open them, even if you otherwise don't feel like you're in trance. Anyway, yesterday after a long day I tried the "Lose Yourself" file from Isabella Valentine, I did it before going to sleep, I delayed my bed time to be more tired and well, it was pretty great !
I was letting go much more easily, parasite thoughts were less invasive and it was overall easier to listen to. Also throughout the session I experienced Hypnic jerks(the twitches you get when falling asleep), twice in the leg and towards the end of the file a stronger one that shaken up my whole body. So yeah I think I did trance pretty well that time, it was much more enjoyable as well, I felt more relaxed that the other times (for some reason my body sometimes tense up by itself like it doesn't want to let go but this time it barely happened) and the suggestion made when waking up were also quite effective in my opinion.

How I "found out" about hypnosis is kind of a complicated question, because (and I only realized this looking back on it fairly recently) I had been hypnotized before I knew what it was called. My older stepsister used to hypnotize me on occasion, though to us it was more of a party trick thing, but I really liked it.
I originally discovered it proper because of some files on literotica.com some 10-12 years ago. As a teenager I would lay back and listen to the erotic audio stories. I'm a hypno noob that recently started listening to N1kk1. I've listened to the first B3c4us3 probably 20-25 times. Don't feel anything but deep relaxation. Today I progressed to the second in the series, and did experience a blackout. No idea for how long, but snapped out of it, and was awake for a large portion of the ending. Despite the commands to forget everything, I remember everything exept for the blackout. Any tips on how I should progress?

Keep listening, perhaps go get Adaptive Unconscious and use that for a week or so, then use Cause & Effect for a week or so - those will get you acclimated and conditioned to how N1kk1 works more than most others. Because - while being a fantastic series - isn't necessarily the very best way to get into N1kk1's materials, that's my own personal opinion on things so take it as such.
Adaptive Unconscious is an outstanding starter file if you're interested in using everything else that N1kk1 has produced, and it's the file I recommend people start with pretty much every time.
The series files (Because, Black Room, Chair, Satin Angels, etc) are for people that really are more adapted and conditioned to her, she even states this in most of those other more advanced files that if you're new to her works you might do better using the other ones first to get used to her style.
As for you and what you're experiencing, trance is different for every single one of us. Deep relaxation is a side effect of it, not the direct result more often than not. Hypnotic amnesia is easy for some folks, vastly more difficult for others - the worst thing you can possibly do it focus on the fact that for now you do remember things even when you get suggestions to not remember.
Hypnosis and trance and the experience of letting go and having the experience is a skill like any other, it really is, but some of us are able to learn it faster than others.
Practice, practice, practice, but realize that doesn't mean listening to a file or multiple files over and over again one after another. Listen to one file once a day, when you have time and can focus on it without being distracted, and accept what happens. In time, your unconscious will learn what your conscious self wants and KAPOW, when that happens a whole new world of possibilities will open up for you.

Each of us is different, as noted earlier, so really it's up to you. I believe - but can't say for sure - that N1kk1 herself would more than likely recommend several of her files as those best suited for people new to her style and way of doing things. Let's face it, there's a hundred plus hypnodommes out there these days and they're willing to do most anything and create files for any purpose, N1kk1 still stands above and beyond all that for me and many others, she's just… different, and we (the fans of her work) appreciate that and have a tremendous respect for it.
For someone new to her materials, I recommend Adaptive Unconscious because it really sets things up for the future - it introduces the finger snap/Sleep trigger, it has a bit of fractionation to help deepen the experience, and it's just a damned pleasant file to listen to as a starter. There's a second one she did with Mistress C4r0| (who I'm not a particular fan of, I have my reasons) called Adaptive Unconscious - Beach where it's got more visualization involved but it is still quite nice (just a lot shorter, I'm a fan of long sessions personally).
The flowchart that was created a long time ago is not bad, could stand being updated since there are more connections than the chart shows, but it's good enough I suppose (attached to this post but I think it already exists in this thread somewhere above).

Some people, as always noted, as just better natural subjects and upon a first listen to something like Satin Angels 2 could find themselves spurting off like mad (seriously, it's a damned sexy file) and other people just take a really really long time to get even just a mild tingle going in terms of arousal.
It's a skill, it takes practice, so do whatever feels right to you and enjoy the experiences, regardless of where they might take you.

Probably a little late but for others with the same problem, try this:
After left clicking on the archive you should be able to select something along the lines of "extract…" in the 7zip submenu. Click that and try the PW given in the post, you got the files from as is and in non-leet. One of those should work. 7zip doesn't always properly show extraction errors for rar archives. If that doesn't work try winrar. For other archives on /hypno, that seem to be encrypted without a given PW "8ch", "8chan" "hypno" and "hypnochan" have a quite good chance of working.

Not sure if anyone can help but I recently listened to N1kk1's "Orgasmic Escalator INTRO" file and it appears to be cut off at roughly 22 minutes 21 seconds and it's fairly obvious the file should be longer.
The second file, "Orgasmic Escalator NOINTRO" appears to be complete at 46 mins 16 seconds end to end, so I'm wondering if anyone has the full version of the INTRO file. I've checked around to several sources and it seems like we all have the cut or corrupted version at 22:21 and I - and I'm sure most everyone else - would love to have the full complete uncut or undamaged file if it does exist.
