Current big job: finishing off duplicate search/filtering workflow

I had a great week with a lot of work done. I fixed and improved a lot of little things (including, I think, the bad gif rendering on windows), and I sped up and de-janked all the similar files code and added a neat way to preview what it has found.

It will be a big release, so it might be a little late.

Thanks! Looking forward to it!

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you for a while, but should we make a separate board for hydrus "meta"? Hydrus has so many features by now that it's something you want to talk about, set things up for like custom tag and file servers, shitpost about, and in the future make lots of custom logins and scrapers for. Should we make another board for that or is it okay to "clutter" this one with that sort of stuff?

Looking forward to it, too!

Bug fixes and performance improvements are usually less fancy and fun to implement, but I definitely appreciate these a lot.

Also curious to see what UI you cooked up to deal with the similar files.

As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't feel like this board is overburdened yet.

And -while I don't want to impose on hydrus_dev-, perhaps it might simply be time to have a simple add-on manager in Hydrus once there are many scripts, repository URLS, tag repositories, scrapers, services and IPFS shares to keep track of?

Just something that pulls JSON files containing update information from URLs and then lets people add & maintain tag archives, IPFS and hydrus shares, services, scripts and so on. (Hydrus could already ship with a "main" add-on server, and whoever else has, like, a shared list of tag archives and IPFS shares could provide alternative URLs without having to bugger hydrus_dev).

It should make life easier with maintaining up-to-date everything, and kinda avoid endless (re-)instruction threads about how to add this or that thing.

Will the dupe search be usable? I've been looking forward to actually removing some dupes.

I agree with >>5011 – this is a very good idea if these things take off and ever need, say, more than one regular general thread, but for now, I don't think we need it. But if you want to set up your own board to manage something separate like your own tag repo or something, I am absolutely not opposed.

>>5010

Nothing special yet–I'm just throwing thumbs at the screen. The button is pretty cool, though.

I'm still thinking about the exact ui for the 'filtering' workflow.

>>5011

I'd like to move in this direction. The new manage scripts system (and the downloader overhaul which will use that framework extensively) and the png import/export stuff is all an attempt to harmonise how objects are stored in and moved across clients.

>>5012

You can see and 'manually' process some dupe thumbs in today's release, but there will be no specialised workflow. It is still prototype. Have a play with it and let me know what direction you would like it to go!

The board really isn't that cluttered. The same threads are always bumped to the front page (Q&A, Bugs, Suggestions, etc.). Those could use a new thread though since loading 400+ replies does lag and make it harder to find posts/information.

Cool. I don't even think this would be very complex.

If you want a template for what might be good to include in an individual "specification", consider doing a variant of this:

https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN/blob/master/Spec.md#example-ckan-file

It's one of those relatively simple configuration structures that ought to work regardless if you install a script, a HTA archive file or just an add-on that "only" configures an URL somewhere in Hydrus.
