Unlike a lot of others, where it's just a small handful of girls, this one has an infinite number of randomly generated slaves to tame, complete with randomly generated backstory. There's a lot of quests as well from the various people in the city, tasking you with training a girl in specific talents, or training a specific girl, and long-term stuff with making a name for yourself. As hinted by >>7703 there's a lot of darker parts to it (butchering girls for meat, making them fight to the death, I think you can also waterboard them among more traditional methods of torture) but there's no obligation to make use of that. In fact, you don't even have to train the slave in sexual stuff. for example, Uncle Bo the tattoo artist wants a virgin loli to cook and sing for him, so you buy a loli off the slave markets and train her in cooking and music.

It is entirely possible to make even arrogant willful slaves obedient without any punishments simply by treating them nicely. Obedience can be earned through devotion, gained through time, or forced through fear. Best to worst method in that order.

It's a good idea to cast auspex every two or three days to see how their aura develops.

You want fear 4 or 3. If it's more, she lives in too much horror. You don't want despair; that definitely leads to suicidal thoughts.

There are many ways to play this, but here's some basics:

1. Once you've gotten a slave, it's a good idea to do this checklist:

1. Get a 3$ collar from the bdsm place in the necropolis. Be sure to equip it.

2. Get a brand tattoo at Bo's.

Both of these help the slave accept and adjust to being slave (awareness in the aura). Having these two also means that when the slave escapes, she will be returned to you. If you do things right, few slaves will ever try to escape, but when you're learning this is a godsend.

3. Go to the serpentine, medical place and get your slave a free health check-up. No sense training a slave if she dies a couple of days later due to a fiend parasite eating its way out of her. And if she's got something mild, like an std, it's nice to get her treated before you have sex with her/ rape her and get infected yourself.

4. Make sure to select at least three rules. (on the right when selecting a slave). Fewer than three rules and she won't have enough routine to get used to being a slave. Unless they're very docile, they're probably not going to follow the rules until you've gotten them to be obedient.

5. It can be hard to get some slaves into an obedience cycle. Once you do, everything becomes easier, so fight through the early stuff.

6. At first, it's easier to not train too proud slaves. It's a nice challenge to train proud slaves and there's something fun about it, but it can be hard at first.

7. Smart slaves are quicker to train. If you started with a harder character, it can be good to get a dumber slave. Because they train slower you can repeat the same lesson more often and that way improve more yourself.

8. More endurance gives more energy which means you can do more activities per day. It's usually the best thing to train first. Another way to improve it is by clicking supplements food. (select this on the left on the same screen where you set the rules)

First time I played I actually went a path like that though; I kept a girl a vaginal virgin as my assistant and decided I wouldn't break it until much later.

You can have 2 girls as employees that you don't pimp out as far as I know, one trainer/assistant and one to look after your stable (never done that, just read about it).

However even if you decide that path, if you want to progress in the game you have to train and sell slaves.

I don't think you can make enough money winning races and fights with a girl to sustain financially. I guess it could work if you go out into the fogs and fight monsters, rescue girls, and then sell them on the slave market without trading them.

You know what, maybe I should try a run like that sometime. Though a big part of the game is closed off as you need to sell developed slaves to the right people to rise socially.

I tried starting a new game and accepting jobs from the slavers, that went worse since i couldn't break the slaves to train them… then i just started on easy mode and learned how to break the slaves without causing them to suicide… just to end up dying anyways because i learned it too late (this also include reading and understanding most of the meanings of the different kinds of aura).

-Go toward the fog and wait for a random fight

-Win the fight and get a random girl

-Even without branding them, in the rich district one the merchant can sell the slave on the black market, just take a day

It gives you a chance of spotting sickness (usually not a big deal) and I think it always spots pregnancy (pretty big deal since if you leave that for more than a week or so she either dies giving birth to a fiend or gets taken away by the church)

After returning to the game after a year and some change of time away it feels needlessly tedious to make any slave now and up its own ass in terms of things that were hardly ever a problem in earlier versions such as "spoiling" a slave and the like.

And yet it doesnt seem to follow it's own rules. At first I welcomed the new spike in difficulty and was happy to see actual impacts on how the "!" statements you could make finally seemed to have an effect. But after a few hours it doesnt seem like time spent with the master and raising devotion gives ANY sort of hampering to the effects of spoiling, terrifying, or whatever else can happen to your slave. In this last hour of painstakingly save scumming, screenshotting, and comparing stat sheets I can with 100% confidence say that I did nothing of the above in terms of spoiling behavior yet lo' and behold a few weeks in my slave was a brat with "pink iridescence of spoiling everywhere" when only being given 1-rank rewards, when they should have gotten much higher ones, at only the 2 max rewards per day as stated in the readme. I detached myself from the game afterwards and just tried to grind devotion, all sense of entertainment that the older versions gave me now being thoroughly gone, and see if that would have an effect. Nope. Apparently they still became spoiled in the same 2-3 week period with no traits that would effect the stat.

Then theres the actual rules and training. They may end up doing the task with no fuss when the day is ended and its automatically done such as cleaning, bathing, and cooking but lawdy mercy if you try to make them do it manually they wont do it for….reasons. Sure they'll do the blowjob, licking, and deepthroat training willingly and up to max with nary a complaint, but go for gentle oral sex option or morning blowjob and get another refusal for…more reasons. I feel like they put way too much into spoiling the slave, and gave whatever values the two other possible "fuck you" attributes like Nature and Temperament on par with Pride. And then amped them all up by a factor of 2.

Unless they are borderline insane, suffering from near max fear/terror, and are constantly treated like shit there doesn't seem to be any way to reliably interact with them outside the training aspect of the game. Which sucks because I used to love playing this game. Am I blind and am just missing a new mechanic, or is it just impossible to be even relatively humane to a slave anymore if you want to get anything done?

It's just like with real women. Once they are kinda happy and in love, you have to be careful to not give them as they ask. The little dots of reward/punishment are her subjective expectation of reward punishment. The more spoiled she becomes, the higher reward dots she gets for even simple tasks.

Once they're devoted, keep a trail of breadcrumb support, but don't try to give her exactly as she deserves. She will get lazy with that. I find that for most slaves, once they're devoted, it works fine to only give one reward per day. Typically a massage to get an extra energy.

Certain rules increase spoiling rate overnight if the slave is not devoted enough.

If less than 3 rules active (only rules on right side of screen count; force rules counts as a rule too) then spoil rate goes up overnight.

Sleep in boudoir - raises spoil rate by 5 * sensitivity if not devoted at all, else raises spoil rate by 1 per night if less than 4 stars devotion

Eat my leftovers - raises spoil rate by 5 * sensitivity if not devoted at all, by 2 * sensitivity if 1 star devotion, else by 1 per night while devotion is less than 5 stars.

Giving fresh food has spoil penalty of 3 * sensitivity for not devoted at all, and 1 per night for less than 4 stars.

Spoil rate also goes up if you reward more than 2 times per day or if you end day with sin (slave unpunished, red number 1-5).

Spoil rate also goes down overnight if you have at least 3 rules enabled. It is reduced by (1 + devotion + fear + despair). It is further reduced by the slave's sensitivity level if the slave's mood is red (below calm).

This effectively offsets the small spoil rate increases from the rules above. For example, a slave with devotion 2 loses 3 spoil rate (1 + 2 for devotion) each night, so you could have fresh food (+1 per night) and leftovers (+1 per night) and boudoir (+1 per night) with no net change in spoil rate.

Spoil rate accumulates just like other attributes and skills (once you get to the threshold for the rate, the associated attribute changes and the rate resets to zero):

The "put in place" action is very useful for reducing spoil rate. There's no real downside, so use it whenever it is available (only when the slave has non-zero spoil level).

5 devotion is required for S-/S+ rank. Devotion contributes to charm, which improves the slave's appeal to buyers and raises maximum value in guild auctions.

More devotion improves 'openmindedness' in active sex, effectiveness of 'spend time with' rewards, and effectiveness of 'encourage' action. It reduces resistance to pet and horse training. It makes fear and despair reduce faster. It offsets negative mood after losing virginity. It improves diligence in all tasks. It also offsets negative effects of rape (as do arousal and habit).

Each reward category gives a separate bonus to mood, and lasts for a number of days equal to the level of reward given. Therefore, giving a variety of rewards is best.

For fog combat, it helps to have healing balm.

Always set your defense type to a color that the enemy isn't using or that the enemy doesn't do much damage with (to avoid one-shot double damage) or to a color where you have a reduce damage buff. For example, when fighting a werewolf in the fog, which does a lot of red damage, don't set your defense type to red (block). The bull ring artifact is very useful for its health bonus. There are some exploitable bugs (as of latest HF release) that probably have been around for a while:

- Delikacia spell can be used more than twice a day without causing spoiling; the spell increases devotion rate based on slaver's mage skill, regardless of the slave's merit, so it can be used to quickly build devotion and bypass the obedience-through-fear while building taming/habit/awareness phase

- Food treat rewards can be given more than twice per day without causing spoiling (as long as the slave has earned enough merit); giving lots of ambrosia for example allows for quickly raising a slave's stamina (at the cost of 25 sparks each, of course)

- Putting a slave into the dungeon and then taking them out again immediately resets the 'already did this' tracking for activities and skills training, which allows for a slave to be rewarded multiple times for training the same skill on the same day, by cycling the slave in and out of the dungeon after each training+reward action

- Putting a slave into the dungeon and taking them out also resets the 'already fought in the arena' tracking so the same slave can be sent to the arena again on the same day (as long as the slave also has at least 2 energy) – note this does not bypass the separate limit on the total number of arena fights per day, based on the slaver's reputation

- Taking a bath individually does not cost energy, but when the slave bathes master rule is enabled, bathing does cost energy

4. for 3 rules minimum, it's important to have them over night to avoid spoiling the slave, but you don't need to have all 3 rules active during the day (it may be useful to turn off deny orgasm during sex training, for example). remember that force rules itself counts as a rule for the 3 minimum. vaginal vibes is a good option for non-virgins (you must buy vibes from BDSM shop in necropolis first, but they are reusable so you don't have to buy them again for each slave). force silence is also a good option - it increases sensitivity over night and can be enforced with the gag item (also from BDSM shop). force silence lowers temperament too but that stat is easier to increase through orgasms and various other methods. no masturbating and deny orgasm are also good overnight rules for disobedient slaves because they won't actually want to masturbate if they aren't aroused.

6. for slaves that are haughty, proud or arrogant, you generally need 3-4 fear to get their obedience to a point where they will not resist easy training like fitness, maid and cook. force humility rule, deny toileting rule and wearing items from the BDSM shop in the necropolis overnight will reduce pride rapidly over several days at the cost of negative mood. blowjob/deepthreat, humiliation and golden shower sex skills will also reduce pride a bit with each training. to counter negative mood, try to give rewards from each of the reward categories, as each reward category gives a separate lingering mood bonus for a number of days equal to the level of reward. also wearing a sundress / wedding dress (better but more expensive), soft slippers and headband overnight each give a mood boost.

7. (HF mod) intelligence can be increased by training secretary, nurse, enchantress and music skills. so if your slave doesn't have max intelligence and you plan to do a lot of training, it's beneficial to max some of those skills first.

as the game progresses, you can focus on maxing the master's skills and attributes (eat high quality food, get enough rest and keep positive mood; spar in the colosseum; etc.), building a stockpile of useful potions (after training a skilled enchantress); building reputation with the various districts; moving to better houses; building reputation with the guild; getting all the trophies (winning fog battles with every enemy type; winning many arena events with same slave)

if buyers complain your slave is unhealthy, it could mean they don't have enough stamina or they don't have enough energy (if they have red stars under their portrait) or they are dirty or they have bruises, scars or are recovering from surgery … or they are wounded, ill, infected with a parasite … or mindbroken

Well, i never sell a slave until it's "sellable"

By that, i mean that i don't sell slaves with wounds, any forms of sickness, bruises, scars, or health problems (fatigue/low energy)

So when i sell a slave, she never have any actual health problems

First thing i train is athletic so her health is always dark-green

I rarely beat them, but when i do i always wait for the bruise to disapear before trying to sell her

I always check for sickness, and cure them when they got somes

I always cover scars

And when they're wounded i always let them the time to heal

Of course, i don't sell mindbroken slaves

TL;DR:

I always make sure she's in top-condition to be sold

Fully clothed, super-healthy, fully rested, nor too fat nor too skiny, tatooed, pierced, rested, scarless, bruiseless, and sickness free

Everything was fine, except the sound. I solved my problem in a dirty way: I installed the qtmultimedia5-examples package, I copied and pasted the missing libraries (from /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/mediaservice to /PATH/TO/QT/5.5/gcc/plugins/mediaservice) and I re-built the FastQSP project.

The FastQSPLinux directory I've mentioned here >>38657 is the "bin" directory: I don't remember why I renamed it, sorry. So my shell script was:
