I do not recommend anyone using Patreon to try to survive, unless it's somebody creating some kind of scam like that game going on in Rome or Monster Island. If you analyze, these are not games, they do not have game play looping, they have no organized ideas, they are just beautiful things running in a 3D engine.

However, if you have the talent to create a story that contains decent characters and hot scenes, then you are most likely to get support as long as your art is not just crap. So I recommend that you try to do something unpretentious and put it on Patreon without high expectations.. Remember that only 14% of devs get over $1000 after 6 months and you'll probably work hard at the beginning to earn very little.

The engine you should use is Renpy.

If you can draw, you have a good advantage. If you want to use DAZ3D or Honey Select, at least you train for a few months to get something decent done, because you have a lot of junk done with those graphics and people have already created a natural rejection against these kind of graphics.

If you still want to try, remember that practically all Patreon's top creators started when there was no competition and they paid to be the first, so don't try to copy their styles thinking that this will make you achieve automatic success.

You don't have to waste too much time with this because your game will be pirated by thousands of people. Just remember to put a link to Patreon inside the game.

A good place to make a public versions available is reddit /lewdgames/ and /nsfwgames/. Make a good description with screeshots and offer the links for free. This will attract patrons.

Remember: the adult gaming world is saturated so your first version needs to be something that people consider a game, not a tech demo or a prototype. Don't publish anything with less than 2 hours of gameplay and no sex scenes.

Someone will create a topic in f95zone about your game eventually. You can talk to the people there.

When you create the tiers on Patreon, remember that it is better to charge a high value of few patrons than to charge a low value of many patrons. I suggest something like this::

$ 1: People have access to news, art, etc., in your Patreon and old versions links

$ 5: access to newest versions

$ 10: Early access (1 week)

$ 20: super early access (2 weeks)

Lastly, quantity is more important than quality. No use making a super complex game with incredible art if it takes 1 year to have a sex scene.

And don't be pretentious. What you need to do right is simple: charismatic girls with hot sex scenes. Don't offer free sex in the beginning, the player needs to feel that the character has some existence and isn't just an avatar to have sex. But don't take too long to offer rewards to the player.

Finally, don't milk your patrons. Be a decent human being and commit to doing the best within your abilities.

besides as has been proven hundreds of times full games can be done within 48 hours and those games have a lenght of 2 to 3 hours.

if you want to make a game just use tyranobuilder (is free well at least japanese version) you just need to make good art good story and the engine allows you to make some really good complicated choices that can change the outcome of the game (if you use tyrano don't male the same mistake westerners do and is they forget to backtrack the story so the story makes no sense whatsoever)

don't forget patreon rules you have to release everything you have made for free even if you haven't made a penny (reason of why some developers make a crippleware version and a highly developed version for patreons)

Tyrano builder can be ported to linux,windows android ,iphone,and even web version if you know scripting then the games can expand more and more important is "what you see in development is what you get " besides minimal bugs (only if you made a mistake) can use movies,pictures png/jpg and most addons are plug and play and the most important is that is a derivative engine of the one used in school days.
