Patreon guidelines and status update!

I'm sure you've all noticed our account has been temporarily suspended since last week due to some Patreon guidelines being reviewed and I would like to thank all of those who've sent us messages of support.

Patreon contacted us asking for some changes to our ingame content to better suit their new guidelines (which have to be made for our next release). It's something we have no control over, and are sorry we had to change some of our creative vision. We will not be hosting any downloads of our game until this patch is implemented.

We were aware that our project could be hit by those guidelines so we were always prepared to make those changes but it did come at a bad time while trying to finish the next update (0.15). We've already begun work on the Patreon patch that will come out with 0.15 in the near future.

As for the actual changes we have to make to our game, they are mostly dialogue and context based. The overall content and CG/art will not be affected.

Despite all of this, SS will not be cancelled and will remain on the Patreon platform for the time being, under the new guidelines. We will continue to create new content for SS, improve the game and work towards finishing this project.

Ok! So as many of you know, we had planned on reworking, improving and extending Jenny's story (at home) after 0.15. However, due to the changes imposed by Patreon (new guidelines), we feel like she should pause the new content on the home characters (and Diane) until later. They will definitely be done in the long run, but for now, we feel like we should get work done on other characters and parts of the game (which are also important).

I know some of you had voted for Jenny and Diane to be worked on in the upcoming updates after 0.15, but we will skip 0.15.5 (Jenny improvements) and go straight to Roxxy's full story in 0.16.

We will also run a new poll after the release to re-schedule our future release content and find out what the fans want us to work on for 0.16.5 and 0.17!

Just wanted to make a post about available positions on our team, and new arrivals!

New devs on the team:

Dogeek is a new permanent coder on the SS team who will help us revamp our code base (while other devs continue to implement new content and features)! It's something we had planned for a while since the game's scope has grown so much since its creation. Hopefully this will allow us to find ways to better adapt to the increasing size and complexity of the game. The biggest improvement we hope to achieve (other than cleaning up the old mess and avoiding reoccurring bugs) will be to allow save games to function across updates. It's something fans have been critical of throughout the Alpha stage of development and we will do what we to make it work!

Available positions on the team:

Short term TA (Technical Artist) with good Photoshop skills and some python language knowledge. Tasked to help us cut character assets (Photoshop) into a rig setup (face expressions overlay body assets). The goal will be to optimise character posing primarily (heaviest part of our game asset wise), and perhaps look into dialogue animation loops like blinking to bring more life to dialogues. Some python knowledge will be useful to make the transition from our current posing code, into a new rig setup with the assistance of current coders on the team.

Long term 2D generalist with experience. Someone highly skilled who can emulate the SS art direction. Strong Photoshop (digital) skills. Create character poses, linework, shading and 2D assets. The ability to create and emulate backgrounds is a big plus! The goal is to find an artist who generate game-ready assets without heavy supervision and/or revisions.

the thing is, there is not much standing up to patreon. Patreon itself is not that interested in removing incest, but ordered to have it removed by the companies in charge of the money (CC, paypal). Simply refusing to obey, or arguing with their representative is not going to achieve anything, apart from getting indefinite suspension until you cave in eventually or remove the project from patreon entirely. The only way to go for a dev that is reliant on the income is to comply and get the review over with asap, then sneak the content in again via "unofficial" patch later, and for god's sake keep your mouth shut about it on any official page (patreon and official dev homepage).

That makes patreon happy, because they can show all the projects that have no degenerate fetishes like incest to their money-overlords, and makes the dev happy because he still gets the easy patreon shekels monthly. Actually Summertime Saga threads are pretty mundane on f95 There are mod threads as well. Since the last version update was mid April I guess kick back and let the money roll in mode may of over come the dev.

I'll make a prediction:

unless DC is able to make decent content with the sister - which I don't think is likely, upcoming updates will make gamers start to realize that the game is long gone, (it ended when it was possible to have sex with the mother for the first time).

The game will lose the appeal, but as people are dumb, it will continue making a lot of money in Patreon even with nothing to offer.

But this will not stop more and more people from beginning to realize that art is bad, that characters have no charisma, that quests are redundant, and that overall game is below the line of mediocrity.

This is the only destiny of a game that is over but wants to keep the fan base with uninspiring fillers.
