Destroy your PGP keys often if you live in a country like the UK where you can be given time in prison for refusing to hand over a encryption key to the british state.

Don't use a computer that has the intel management engine. Governments have a back door in it most likely as the code is closed source.

Destroy you cell phone as nosey smurf and other such tools can be used to hear what you are saying.

Invest in a good VPN service to use to connect to tor. (outside of the 5 eyes etc)

Try and avoid using websites based in the 14 eyes.

all intel and amd processors can be taken over by the state except for the old intel processors in the laptops the fsf sells, there's almost no point in avoiding it

what's even the point? you were talking about hardware vulns earlier, chances are the vpn providers don't use fsf laptops as their servers so just assume they've already been pwned by intel and friends

7878 here, felt i should leave things on a more actionable note, you should protect yourself from dragnet surveillance and from law enforcement surveillance, but it is nearly impossible to protect yourself from targeted surveillance from the state, it's safe to assume if the government is after you specifically every device you touch has already been pwned

Well isn't this the goal? If you're being targeted specifically, you're already fucked and I don't think theres a single thing anyone on this site can do about it.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic here, but its no longer possible for the normal person or even somewhat skilled person to go full Kevin Mitnick and disappear. With facial recognition literally everywhere, avoiding CCTV doesn't matter anymore when you're bound to be in the background of a random selfie or picture. I'm not sure if its actually possible to truly disappear in a first world country if you specifically are being targeted
