Somewhat this. I think it's more likely Kero's doing this to try and kill the heat on him. Since he's stated he got a ton of death threats and the police investigating him probably freaked him out. It's kind of amusing that he says the furry community is "toxic" which is the same thing Kothorix said, when Kothorix said it in reference to Kero.
It's highly unlikely Kero is dropping out of the fandom full stop he is most likely keeping all of his friends. At most he's probably dropping the fursona and fursuit.

I'm not too familiar with this guy, but from reading his Twitter posts, I just want to get a few thoughts out.
There's nothing wrong with being a zoophile, but there is everything wrong with being a pedophile.
However, the zoophiles that go too far and actually hurt animals through sex in the form of punishment, domination and so on need to be frowned upon. If you have sexual attractions to animals, that's completely alright. If you're one of the few that sees more in other species than humans then so be it.
But there's another line to be drawn when it comes to zoophilia. People that go out and have sex with smaller animals like dogs, cats and birds (how?) need to stop. But something like a horse, cow or deer is something more reasonable that you won't hurt.
This is also what I tell everyone when it becomes to sexual relations. Sex should be love and love only, not recreation. Animal cruelty/abuse is hurting and you only hurt something you hate. So, having sexual intercourse with an animal you love that is big enough must be done reasonably and responsibly.
