>When Did You Realize That Staying Meant Being Stuck In It

 No.92971

Several years ago when I stopped solely lurking to dip my toes in the social aspect of the community, only then quickly pulled back and resumed lurking.

 No.92978

I'm socially-involved in parts of the fandom and I enjoy it. I'm just very selective about where I get involved. I go to cons, and I have my circle of friends (and interact lightly with circles of those in my circle). I rarely run into serious drama. I come here to read, and lightly participate in, drama-related shit, but this is usually the only place I encounter anything serious.

>>92970 (OP)

Most of what's in that doesn't bug me. Do what you do, don't what you don't. Like what you like, don't what you don't. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, I don't care. Long as you keep your "harder" fetishes (rape, guro, cub, etc.) in fantasy only, they don't bother me. Start hurting people, stealing from people, etc. and that's when I have an issue. Yes, I know it happens in the social furry community, but I stay the fuck away from it, warn people I know, and it works for me.

 No.92980

i was social. met some people and said no thank you anymore. nobody acts how you act online

i'm still mad that this fandom advertises itself as welcoming where it really means passively tolerant and you'll be ignored if you're not a massive attention whore

 No.92990

The furry fandom is from my experience what you make it, where you go, what gets you hard, and who you know.

Not trying to say certain sights and happenings wont induce bouts of cynicism in us from time to time, but i say stay optimistic in that you never really will want to leave.

Also kindly flip an internal middle finger at the shitlords, cause i can bet you some skinny white boy unironically spouting about gassing the furries on an internet forum aint gonna do shit in a real life interaction.

 No.92991

can't imagine why you'd want to be associated with the fandom

it's not even the sex thing (Although being too close to the fandom is an immediate confession that you fap to furry porn, no exceptions.), or the angry children from encyclopediadramatica. it's just not a good look. even if you've got furry friends you'd be crazy to be publicly associated with the wider fandom instead of being the non-furry guy with furry friends.

>i'm still mad that this fandom advertises itself as welcoming where it really means passively tolerant and you'll be ignored if you're not a massive attention whore

I haven't experienced that, either. But what do you mean, ignored? The fandom-at-large probably has no idea who you are. You really do have to be REALLY outspoken if you want any fandom to all pay you attention. The fandom is welcoming, but that doesn't mean everyone will be your friend as soon as you join.

>Furaffinity is where people should post asexual fine arts coincidentally related to anthros or animals.

Stop. Your premise is ridiculous.

You can tell the author accepts BDSM stuff as sensible enough, because they need some other adjective to justify an objection to it. Let's move past that, though, because contrasting taste in kink and art is only enough to seriously bother normies.

It's the psychology of those we interact with that creates the deeper revulsion. Take a step back and ask yourself what the furry community is.

It's a place where people are drawn together on their commonality of having one fetish that would have them expelled from polite society. With some notable exceptions, it's a place that will not eject its users for introducing additional kinks of their own. At the same time, it's a place of very little substance. Now you've gotten just about every acceptance-seeking deviant's foot into the door.

You'll likely find instances of that being the entire story: a deviant coming to post their deviant art before an audience. Others bring behaviors to the community that would not be tolerated elsewhere. Perpetual victims, for instance, have a nice little niche to fit into. You'll get banned if you go multiple profiles/journals to criticize objectionable behavior, and so selective pressures for behavior are not shaped by negative feedback as much as positive. Whatever gets the likes/comments/subscriptions is what's selected for. Therefore, people will peacock endlessly, create stories of victimhood to attract the naive, and excuse themselves from obligations in the absence of any third-party to enforce a structure agreement.

But I'd be as bad as the author of OP's infographic if I didn't provide even an attempt at some solutions.

> People have different kinks/sensibilities than you

Form a secret club. Invite those you like and kick out anyone that you don't.

> Community leaders are disagreeable

Form a secret club. Invite those you like and kick out anyone that you don't.

> People accept payment in advance and don't deliver

Establish escrow to guarantee the structured release of funds upon the completion of a contract.

Nobody's forcing you to create an account on furaffinity.

find it fascinating to look at twitter and see people be like "furry is a sex positive space", "furry is inherently queer" type things

they're not wrong but it's like staring into a different world where that's framed as a good and novel thing rather than a downside that means furries struggle with meaningful non-sexual discussion. the sexual discussion becomes meaningful and just like any other human activity. masturbating becomes as normal as videogaming.

much though i don't like it it i think they're the future. the wider social acceptance of furry is probably coming with growing sex-positivity amongst the general population.

>growing sex-positivity amongst the general population

Not disagree but just adding, I think society is becoming more accepting, but only as a last resort. Everyone is now on social media, broadcasting their weird shit to the world, often ignorantly as young kids. If society doesn't learn to let bygones be bygones then the whole world will be crippled with cringe-embarrassment.

also, checked them trips

>>93000

Puritanism transforms sex into a forbidden fruit that is only enjoyed in secret.

Playing video games and masturbating are equally invaluable consumption that neither promotes personal growth in any serious way, nor provides anything but demand for media.

There is no reason for the two to not be functionally equivalent, and there's no utilitarian reason for the moderate indulgence of either to be seen as a deficiency.

When boomers die, they'll take their minds and voices. Their children will be left to perpetuate the values they once did, and many will simply refuse to do so. There are already pockets of non-puritan social norms on the internet. One can simply expect these to grow until demand for them has been filled.

Some people are indeed doing it only as a last resort, but some are coming to realize that "do what you do, don't what you don't" is a fine way to live-- that nothing is gained by hating people.

It's hilarious when people fill out that shit seriously. I just filled out my info with nonsense and then the off-site links with the lyrics to Ram Ranch.

Overall furry sites are literal shit though.
