No updates since forever. Is it dead? Will it ever be finished? Can he be bribed to start working on it again?

 No.86209

Forgot link for the uninitiated.

You're really gonna sit there with baited breath for Jack of all things to be finished?

>>86221

Probably

 No.86229>>86264

He changed format to updating when a story is finished. Last update was just a couple months ago.

Any where I can at least check to see when the next story is expected? Some kind of status update?

I'm not one of those guys that are going to try to make you feel guilty for liking something, but I'm pretty sure David Hopkins is kind of a legitimately sick individual. The guy had a tendency of lulling abuse victims into a false sense of security before verbally abusing them over Skype while jacking off. When someone threatened to take evidence of his actions to the authorities, he literally started begging and sobbing and screeching.

Oh and let's not forget when his wife called into that radio show (kek).

I have no proof of this, sadly. This is mostly conjecture that I got from a thread on /furry/ ages ago before it crashed and burned. The victims and witnesses involved also took down their tumblr.

The radio show recording should still be floating around though, if anyone's curious.

Wow, what gave you that idea genius

Pretty sure you're a fucking idiot if you can't see that

I know some people who are into degradation and all sorts graphic edgelord stuff probably as much as Hopkins is if not more, and a few of them happen to be the nicest, sweetest people I've had the pleasure of knowing. I might be put off by what gets them off myself, but as long as they have no desire to reenact any of that shit for realsies (as in, not subjecting unsuspecting people to harm), I'd say that makes them perfectly sane.

All of this was proved to be bullshit awhile ago anon. Tumblr is a bad place to "fact" check.

He occasionally posts about updates on his FA but I think the best source is Patreon, where he posts pages as they're made (or did; I've been out of the loop for about a year now).

He had a surprise table at a convention I visited for one day. It was a bit lonesome but he was there trying to sell his old stuff with his wife. I didn't get much since I was jobless and didn't want to explain weird shit to my parents in case they found it. I tried to ask him what inspired him to make Jack but I couldn't get a proper answer from him. I don't follow him these days but he did express an interest in continuing his Rework the Dead series. Also, he didn't have any issues with anyone who wants to make collabs involving his characters which was kind of neat. Of course, I had to get a sketch of my character from him. The hand pose was my idea.

I unironically love his stuff as it's drastically different from other furry stuff. It's as if Spawn and every other edgy 90s comic merged with Tiny Toons.

His strip about the school shooter wearing a Korn T-Shirt was hilarious because the band was ridiculed in the metal community for being "weak" at the time.

 No.86430>>86476 >>86484

Except Stephen King is an admitted sick individual. He wrote half his books while on various drugs, or in reaction to the descent of his life into hell because of the drugs.

its the best fucking shit

But that's what makes it stand out. Who the fuck else in the right mind would do that?

>>86308

Heck yeah dude, I love the mix of absolutely over-the-top edge mixed in with his old-time toony furry style. The school shooting one slays me, it's one of my favorites. I never got fully caught up with Jack but god, what I have read has been great.

I hope he never stops doing art, even if the guy is a POS.

you're on a furry board you big gay, you're lying to yourself if you think it isn't some form of escapism.

 No.86559>>86592

Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's always bad. Stephen King's a good writer. And he wrote a lot of his best stuff after he quit the drugs. Y'all like Jurssic Park too and it was always popular, so you stop sniffing your high horse's farts and join the rest of us. Pretending to hate things doesn't make you cool.

 No.86592>>86631

>>86559

>Stephen King's a good writer

He's a good writer but a bad storyteller. His strengths have always been short stories, because his novels always are the same damn thing but told in different ways. They also tend to start off with a lot of promise and then toward the end descend into insanity and things become increasingly overblown.

Also (and this is only my opinion), it's a bit irritating that all his stories are just self-contained "something that happened" and the end result is ALWAYS that whatever happened is going to happen again and the character's struggles didn't actually amount to jack shit in the long term. They didn't kill It, they just put It back to sleep for a little while again. Every single victory feels like a hollow and pointless one.

 No.86631

>>86592

I can agree with some of what you're saying. Although to my mind I'd say the "they only put it back to sleep and it will happen again" theme is calling back to Lovecraft and the way things tend to repeat in life. The big exception to that being Misery, heh. Although I felt that the final chapter sort of took away from a powerful moment just before it.
