Conventions are extremely expensive to put on (10s of thousands just to rent the venue. That doesn't include other shit like equipment rentals, security and so forth). It gets to the point where if you say "fuck off diaperfags" you can seriously run the risk of the convention being abandoned by most people because that's a good chunk of who attends.
