Well... I mean theoretically if it had a crapton of energy it could heat air from the intake to plasma and shoot it out the back. It would be more "rocket" propulsion than "jet", and there's no way it could possibly get enough energy from solar power from that, unless it were swimming in the photosphere (where are its photovoltaic panels, anyway??) but it's not completely impossible.

An unauthorized Primagen seems like the most fun idea still. I could probably even write a small bit of lore that jabs at the pretentiousness of the entire closed species.

Perhaps since Primagen are synthetic creatures, Unauthorized Primagen could be beings that were assembled and brought to life on the black market, not officially authorized by the Government of whatever stupid planet they live on. The "Government" may not call them official and illegal but that doesn't mean they don't exist and are real.
