I used to be able to browse FA and Inkbunny while edging at the same time, not anymore though. There's a littering problem, people polluting the fur commons and ruining our community. The atmosphere when commissions and vending were the preferred revenue streams was a quiet European street. Every time I go search my tags for things like "Gaping musky vagina" I'm don't see hobbyists but:
- Teaser crops and censoring Patreon watermarks over the sexual areas, low resolution "free" versions that are so blurry they aren't worth looking because the real one is hidden behind paywall along with variations, and art degradation
- Endless streaming notifications, YCH advertising, and flat out Patreon shilling
- People who don't warrant a paywall spamming advertising material for things few would be interested in even for free.
Not only this but there isn't much exciting to see anymore. It's dumbed down in tastes pandering to the masses that consume dickgirls with fire hydrant sized horse dicks (good riddance to Winger), hyper asses, giant titty monster taffy people, feet, vore, and chasing $1700 neon green sparkledog cocks. I had to drop a decade old FA account because the shilling made it a 6 hour a week job to get through advertising and the same repetitive shit tastes in my submission feed.
There are a FEW artists who use Patreon right, as a tip jar. They are a VERY small minority though, anything more than a 2 week delay as an "incentive" leads to pollution of the commons, at least at the end of those 2 weeks everyone gets something out of it instead of perpetual blueballs. Most artists I see with Patreons LOWER their output instead of increase it, some of them updating maybe twice a month and usually some shitty token sketch -- it's made them fucking LAZY. Furry porn is basically an extortion racket for the mentally ill now, mostly those living on disability and who don't know any better. So not only do they pollute the commons they don't provide much value to improve it. Japan got hit with the same fucking problem once Enty took off, now it's full of Westerners uploading garbage and Jap paywalls (they are even more obnoxious about it than Westerners).
TL;dr
Furry porn became another television; repetitive lowest common denominator content and advertising. Only the mentally ill can find much value now and what objectively GOOD content there is comes at a poor opportunity cost... you need to process hours of noise to get it. Anyone with a sliver of experience in the field can design functionally identical shit just from the description. Patents exist to protect specific design from intellectual theft and unlicensed use, while also sharing the innovation with the world. Hence patents eventually expire and everyone are free to use this design for no royalty. And even while it's active, you can always make your own design that's marginally different and does the same exact shit.

processing fees are a bullshit scam anyway, maybe earlier in history it was applicable because forms needed to be found and moved, but with the advent of the internet where everything can be done in a split-second, it no longer applies and is just an excuse to make money.

The couple people I've talked to about the change are now considering dropping patreon entirely. Creators are massively upset and a large number of people have started dropping low pledges already. I don't know if you can call this the death of patreon, but people are moving en masse to ko-fi and the like citing massive distrust of (((patreon)))'s motives - and they're right to.

This seems like a good thing at first, but if you already get fucked by bank fees (currency conversion etc.), you're going to see a lot more of those as each person counts as a separate transaction. I refer you to the 2013 case of Chris Handley. Had imported manga at home he bought online, no CP. Some of it was loli stuff. He pleaded guilty, because his lawyer advised him he would be found guilty anyway if the jurors saw the manga he had. He even spent several months in prison for it. Obscenity laws are a totalitarian concept to me either way.

Lawyer had an agenda of his own, or was probably a public defender who was as dumb as a post. Juries are specifically selected based on the individual case, to follow the letter of the law, and excluded if they have some emotional inability to remain objective. The defense has every right to reject potential jurors based on these biases.
In any case, it makes me wonder if it's possible to waive your right to a trial by jury. Not sure whether a judge who actually has knowledge of the law would be more or less likely to convict, but it seems like a pretty open-and-shut case of not-guilty, from where I stand.
Oh well. Trials are totalitarian, or more realistically: oligarchiarian. If you're not a millionaire, you can't really afford to go to trial; many lawyers advise their client to plead guilty for "minor" offenses because it will save them tens of thousands of dollars in lost time and trial fees, even if they win the case. It's pretty much complete nonsense that the system even works this way, but that's the world we live in.
