Stop eating omega-6 fats. I was shedding hair faster than normal at one point until I stopped most omega-6 consumption. Your scalp should be flexible such that you can freely move by it by furrowing your eyebrows and forehead and you can feel it move when you stretch your superficial back line which goes all the way up the back of the body around the top of the head to the brow ridge. If the scalp is not flexible enough that this occurs, then it may be calcified or in the beginning stages of calcification. Vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin, and biotin may help, but you probably also need more circulation to the area. An exercise you can do is bending over into full flexion as if to touch the toes then raise the head and lower it back a few times before standing up again. Then repeat a few sets of this. This will help return circulation to the scalp. You don't want an overly forward posture, so make sure to bend backwards either limbo style standing or yoga style on the floor to balance things out afterwards.
I used vitamin supplements and dietary changes, and no joke, I just ran my hand through my hair several times and there wasn't a single loose hair to pull out. Around the time my scalp rejuvenated, I got better at wiggling my ears, so I think that means circulation to the whole head is better.

Is there any way to push out a receding hairline again? Diet changes, etc?
I'm 18 and my hairline is already farther back than my dad's. I look 35. I must have lost at least 30% of my hair in the past 3 years.

I should point out that it can take 3 months to take effect because of the way it works. It's a vasodilator, meaning the follicles get more stimulated and the life cycle of the hair gets sped up. Don't get discouraged if nothing seems to change for a while.

It's nice reading a post with references, but I am cautious about recommending minoxidil as it has a nitric oxide moiety and may act as a nitric oxide agonist. I think cocoa powder is more reasonable if a person is willing to eat it regularly even though it may increase nitric oxide (mechanism unknown to me so far, but it may or may not do so itself but just increasing circulation perhaps tends to get nasty things flowing again due to release of blockages.) because chocolate is a common food that most people have experience with. The theobromine in alkalized cocoa powder is very powerful for increasing circulation in the whole body at doses of 15+ grams. I know this from personal experience, and it does so by increasing heart rate comfortably while lowering blood pressure. The effect is of becoming relaxed and warm so that tension melts away. Actual cocoa powder and not pure theobromine is recommended because the cocoa powder comes with magnesium and other useful things. I believe it has a lot to do with my scalp being lively and moveable.
Many people get nice results with topical caffeine or red light devices applied to the scalp. Caffeine is so widely available and cheap that it just seems reasonable and practical.
For exercise, I think reviving the fascia on and surrounding the scalp is a reasonable course of action through rhythmic stretching and tensing movements, especially on the superficial back line, but ultimately it has to be asked why the scalp needs such special care in aging so as to need an exercise program. This can be due to various deficiencies that worsen the scalp over time, but the accumulation of omega-6 fatty acids and their prostaglandins seems to be a major contributor to both estrogenic signalling and the progressive deterioration of the scalp. It can make little sense to stubbornly increase circulation when the diet has not changed so as to eliminate such negative influences, or else this means pumping more of the same garbage into the scalp which caused the mess to begin with.

has anyone tried bengay/A535 on their scalp to fight hair loss? If hair loss is caused by fibrosis and devascularized scalp, surely increasing blood flow with these products should help. I've been using A535 for the past few days, as well as daily scalp massage and neck-up exercises (sit-ups for your neck) and have noticed that my hair is standing more upright from my scalp, and not flaccid.

You can't. If your big head grows big enough to stop blood circulation to the hair follicles, then your hair falls out.

You can though. Most people just don't take the steps necessary to restore circulation or have any idea what that would entail. I have personally increased circulation to the extremities and scalp by a great degree and the quality of my hair is more youthful and thick with very little shedding.
Exercising the lines of fascia which reach the scalp is a physiological means of restoring some function and avoiding omega-6 fats is a preventative dietary means of maintaining hair quality. Red/infrared light therapies are popular and cause some regrowth as the sole method of treatment in some cases and topical caffeine/aspirin yields surprising results for others. Hormonally, estrogen must be lowered, and thyroid hormones must be increased. Some of the features of both hypothyroidism and iodine deficiency resemble reptilian, cold-blooded traits, and since reptiles typically lack hair and have rough, scaly skin, it should be no surprise that when disorders of thyroid axis function are resolved, hair quality and quantity increases. Biotin supplentation is very promising as it is safe, helps maintain thyroid hormone levels, and is already known for improving hair, skin, and nails.
There's a great deal of confusion regarding estrogen—a stress hormone—with some people actually suggesting estrogen supplementation in order to regrow hair. What does not help are naive notions of hormonal action that are either supported by myths of popular culture or one dimensional perspectives generated from studying hormones statically or as part of closed system. The body is a dynamic, living system which is open and responsive to the greater environment. Indeed, not seeing endocrine systems through this lens, means illuminating the mechanisms of dead strawmen while failing to see how real life works in motion. It has been revealed that estrogens promote fibrosis of tissues (anywhere) and male pattern baldness accompanies fibrosis of the scalp. Yet, DHT is still blamed for baldness. The point missed by the anti-DHT crowd is that DHT powerfully opposes the actions of estrogens, and the reason it is found in scalps of bald men is probably because it is part of a neuroendocrine-adrenal response loop which involves a high level of estrogens which the body is in fierce struggle with by pumping out DHT when it can. There is a secret here that evades the attention of most cursory investigations: while estrogen doesn't grow beards per se, the response to estrogen with hormones which oppose its actions is probably a large part of what drives puberty and secondary sexual traits. That is to say if stress never accumulates to the point of creating a certain amount of estrogen, the body will never come up with a need or ability to respond to it with a powerful opposition. Therefore, the estrogen stress response loop grows beards and body hair and many traits stereotypically associated with masculinity. Some of the hairiest men are among the most bloated, fat, aggressive, and least healthy, and the bloat, fat, and aggression are all traits supplied by estrogen. When these same men lose their head hair, it is a clear sign estrogen is beginning to dominate by a greater degree. The answer is not necessarily to supplement loads of antiestrogens—though it could help get a handle on things initially—but to calm down the stress loop that has gotten out of hand such that no normal stress response can pacify it. This often amounts to reversing some degree of aging which is understably challenging but not impossible.

-Stop eating vegetable oils and omega-6 fats.
-Reduce estrogen levels.
-Lower fat intake decreases estrogen (and potentially omega-6)
-Reduce stress.
-Increase thyroid hormones.
-Higher carbohydrate intake increases thyroid hormones (provided no gross deficiency of iodine or selenium) and decreases stress
-Certain supplements may or may not help. These include: biotin, riboflavin, vitamin E, vitamin K2 (MK-4), taurine, topical caffeine/aspirin
-Red/infrared light therapy directly to the scalp

That's interesting because I always have cold hands and feet. And I have long term skin problems with psoriasis. I took a thyroid test earlier this year, but the results came back normal. (according to the ranges provided).

Excess polyunsaturated fats in your tissues will make you resistant to the actions of your own thyroid hormones. In my opinion, the most practical way to diagnose a thyroid axis insufficiency is to simply look at outward appearances rather than doing blood tests. The reason is simple: you may have as much thyroid hormone as a normal person but if you still have edema or are regularly cold, you may have a need for more because the current amount is not enough to overcome your circumstances and make you functionally normal. Another thing to consider is that your T4 level may have been tested but not your T3 level. T3 is the active thyroid hormone and T4 is more like a precursor, but many doctors think it's okay to not bother testing T3. T3 insufficiency may also mean liver dysfunction as much of it is made there. The old way of testing hypothyroidism was to do an Achilles tendon reaction time test.

I cut those fats from my diet a long time ago. My food is mostly meat and vegetables, so a lot more saturated fats. Very little processed carbs.
> Another thing to consider is that your T4 level may have been tested but not your T3 level.
I got them both tested.
THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 1.55 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.20
FREE THYROXINE 20.200 pmol/L 12.00 - 22.00
FREE T3 5.34 pmol/L 3.10 - 6.80
THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY <10 IU/mL 0.00 - 115.00
THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES <9.0 IU/mL 0.00 - 34.00
But yeah, test results might not give that much useful info. I had another test for iron levels that showed free iron at the high range of normal.
There's so many toxins in modern society that it feels almost impossible to diagnose ailments anymore. I've had psoriaisis for 7 years, but the cause appears to be non-existant. If it was some obscure cause like electro-magnetic radiation, I wouldn't know, because It's everywhere now, and I can't get a controlled environment to test without it's presence.

That has absolutely nothing to do with your idea that lack of blood flow causes baldness. If you ever cut your scalp, you would know that head cuts bleed A LOT. Scalp expansion can easily cause difference in androgen receptors, etc (warning, I pulled this out of my ass, I have not read any research on scalp expansion and androgen receptors). Blood flow has not been proved in the slightest.
