Poorfag here

I want to make a home gym and I make a homemade lat pulldown with resistance bands, got pic related for 20$, and one 25lb dumbbell

Planning on making my own bench soon and a homemade bar+plates but how

Either get a real Olympic sized bar, preferably one that will work for Olympic lifts, or just do calisthenics. Olympic rings or a "suspension trainer" would probably be very useful to you. You can do pullups, dips, and other exercises with rings that make lat pulldowns redundant and probably whatever you intend to do with one dumbbell. Rings are basically just a couple of handles dangling from an adjustable strap(s), so they shouldn't cost much. You can train pecs to a very high level with rings, so you don't really need to bench press unless you do so competitively.

First have a good look around for used bars and plates, and don’t waste your money on stuff like your pic related. That aside, I would agree with what >>143915 said, olympic rings would definitely give you great bang for your buck if you have someplace to attach them. If not at least a pull up bar would already be a much more effective alternative to some home made lat pull down machine

1. yoga mat = for calisthenics and other stuff. if you're not bench pressing, pushups are your bread for chest

2. pull up bar = this is so good you should even buy one for home even if you went to the gym. this is your butter for back

3. light resistance band = 10 to 15 bux, usually for prehab/stretches

i actually recommend getting a smaller DB, there are a ton of beneficial accessory lifts you can do (cuban rotations for shoulder cuff muscle).

look up eugen sandow for a classic bodybuilder who used light DBs and calisthenics. if you want to invest even more:

- Jump Rope: Boxers use these for a reason, you can use it for cardio, conditioning, warmup, or HIIT. never a bad buy.

- Kettlebells: since you don't have a rack/bar, you can invest in these and get wonderful ballistic/full body work out of it

-gym rings: hang em on your pullup bar, you'll mostly be stuck doing lower ring workouts, but those are good upper body workouts anyways.

muay thai guys do a ton of calisthenics/kettlebell, look up their physique to see if you like it
