if I run a decent amount, would collagen peptides keep my knees alive for a little longer or does my body produce enough collagen for my joints

"peptides" may or may not be a marketing gimmick to justify overpriced collagen. "Collagen" also seems to be used like a marketing gimmick to justify overpriced gelatin which is often categorized as food. Don't get me wrong though. Gelatin can help your joints, mainly because the amino acid glycine is often hard to come by in the diet and for one reason or another it is common for a human to not be synthesizing enough of it from precursors. You just need to understand collagen isn't a magic super supplement invented in the modern era; gelatin is simply a type of protein that was often included in soups, broths, and perhaps other traditional foods but is rarely used in modern industrial food processes. A concern with gelatin sources to consider is that they may contain heavy metals, because if the gelatin was derived from bones instead of skin, it is more likely to be contaminated depending on the conditions the animal lived in. Bones are often where animals deposit things such as lead if they are present in their diet/environment.

Jello isn't gelatin, btw. Only animal gelatin is gelatin. If I had to take a guess, bovine gelatin is probably more likely to be of higher quality than porcine gelatin—especially if someone feels okay with feeding the pigs random junk and the cattle get to roam free eating grass.
