High fat diets are bad indeed, but saturated fats are the healthiest variety. Palm oil is a poor choice while coconut oil and cocoa butter are generally better, because they have better ratios and compositions of saturated fats.

Be careful of using shitty oils to fry stuff in a pan. Check the burning temperature. Oils that have low burning temperatures are really bad to cook with, as they burn your food black and that black burned stuff is carcinogenic.

Olive oil and real butter is the best to cook with. Butter makes everything taste so good and olive oil lasts a long time and you can spray it on everything for extra calories and health gains.

Oh and some brands of olive oil are mixed with cheaper oils, which is fucked up because the cheaper oil will start to burn before the olive oil when you're cooking thus making it unhealthy. When you buy olive oil check the bottle for any hidden messages about not being pure olive oil.

Also buy Spanish oil instead of Italian, Italians have had many scandals over the years with companies selling third rate oil as extra virgin.

They do not the the best smoke points, being around the same temperature as other conventional cooking oils. Unless you mean ghee by saying 'real butter' and the olive oil you get is either extra light or pomace olive oil.

Avocado oil is the best choice for frying, searing, and other high temperature cooking. It has a smoke point of about 520F (270C), so it is pretty hard to fuck it up. Not to mention all the health benefits it offers. Only downside is that it might not be easily available outside of Americas. Only avocado oils I recall seeing in Ireland and Scandinavia were body oils instead of cooking ones.

It's shoved into foods simply because it's cheap.

I avoid it because of that alone. If I knew for a fact that steak's fat is actually paraffin wax, I wouldn't buy it, and I'd have to be starving to eat it. Someone who engages in this kind of cost cutting can't be trusted to not poison you.
