I have gout, which is essentially a disease where too high uric acid in ones body ends up crystallizing in ones joints, to avoid this from getting worse, I have to keep a low level of a substance "Purin", its basically in everything, but to different degrees depending on the food.

Alcohol and Fructose (e.g. fruits, fruit juices) also worsen it by lowering the uric acid extraction from the body.

So I want to be /fit/ and work out and get lots of muscular mass, anyone knows how to combine those two goals, avoiding an increase in gout while eating for muscle build up?

To clarify, my body doesn't look like that image, there is so far no visible sign of gout at my body, if there is permanent damage its really limited, this is a very early stage, and as long as I keep to a low purine diet and avoid alcohol/fructose it will stay well.

Just saying this is the requirement for my /fit/ diet to work out.

Years ago, I had a condition in which I had chronic pain in one of my big toes and I called it gout. Don't know if that's an accurate name, but I severely cut down on my sugary beverage intake and that seems to have cleared it up. I'm still gonna call it gout.

If you gotta avoid alcohol and fructose, then that's great. Many of us are doing this already because that shit's bad for everyone. No idea how to avoid purine though. A quick startpage search should get you started.

Try avoiding foods that have nutrition facts labels on them. This means buying simple ingredients and preparing your own meals. Fresh veggies, fresh meats, fresh fruits (sparingly, I guess, with your condition). Dry nuts and legumes. Calorie surplus (with lots of protein, ideally) on these types of foods means growth, and lifting means much of that growth will be muscle.

Good luck with your gout! Work hard and do your best!

OP, never sacrifice your health for vanities like muscles. Girls don’t care if you aren’t muscular, but they will care if you’re some gout-ridden bloated ‘power lifter’.

Take my advice or leave it, it’s your health.

>fruit is bad for you

Wew. Agreed on alcohol and added sugar, but no, fruit is fine.

Bro, nobody said that fruit is bad for you, and it's quite frustrating that that's how you interpreted what I said.

Fruit contains a lot of fructose, which OP says he needs to avoid. It's still important to eat fruit, but maybe OP should consider not eating them as often as he otherwise would.
