Do you eat rice almost every day? Is rice bad for attempting a "clean bulk"?

I just noticed that rice doesn't has much protein, and rice is a staple food where I live and everyone eats every meal with rice. Should I remove rice altogether or should I just lower its intake?

455195 No.139713

It's very low in nutrition. White rice has a lot of fairly harmless qualities to it, but the main concern is you're filling yourself up with "empty" calories when you could be prioritizing other foods. There's no need to remove it if all that's missing from your diet is a little extra energy, which rice will offer in the form of glucose and a tiny bit more protein. Potatoes and sweet potatoes typically have more going for them than rice. Sometimes excessive starchy food consumption grows candida, so if your diet doesn't have much variety, it's one thing to consider.

white rice is basically pure carbs, that's the only reason why you should eat it. just avoid brown rice as the hull has anti-nutrients and is a DHT inhibitor

make sure you wash the rice first to reduce the arsenic content

Rice is one of the better grains, but like all grains, it's pretty much just carbs without much else going for it. Rice and oats were pretty much the only grains I ate before I went keto.

Umm, confirmed autistic? It's only a way of saying rice is low in vitamins and minerals

On one hand, it is mostly carbs, not a lot of nutrition. On the other, rice has low calorie density compared to other foods. It's a decent filler food as long as you aren't a strict keto nut.

It depends what rice species you pick. Golden, black, red, and wild rice are farm more nutritious. Black and wild have about 10g or more of protein per 100g. Golden, black, and red also have more vitamins and antioxidants than white and brown varieties.

That's true, those rices also taste better as well, but when people ask about rice, they are almost universally asking about long grain white rice with the occasional mention of brown rice. Rices like black and red rice are also much more expensive. Few people in the west could afford to fill out their diet with thai red or forbidden rice.
