Hey /fit/. Fa/tg/uy here. I've been a fat fuck my entire life 25 years, and I never really cared. I had my vidya and warhammer 40k, and as a quasi-NEET only ever worked part time jobs, never more than 20 hours a week, that was good enough. Sure, my knee is fucked, constantly popping out of the socket when I walk, but who REALLY cares about that, I thought.

And then… Three months ago I ended up managing to get a full time job, and I ended up making some friends with the door-greeter, who turns out to be a lot like me, but seriously into LARPing - SCA, Dagohir, etc. I'll be honest, I always found LARPing to be pretty cool when done right, so it didn't take long for him to get me interested in it.

Problem is, I'm a fat fuck who is used to sitting still for days, playing video games or assembling 40k models, and Dagohir, the LARP he does, is a combat game, so it is the opposite of what I've done for a decade. So while he's going easy on me, I'm getting my ass kicked regardless. I can't move fast enough, I tire quickly, and I'm not strong enough to hold back his charges, even when I've got a tower shield and am bracing against it. However, that wasn't what even made me decide to get into shape.

Two days ago he had let me borrow his biggest Gambeson a type of padded armor, that was XXL. It was too tight for me to get it on. That was when I realized how fucking fat I am. It was so fucking humiliating, and I had to make a change. I loved playing vidya, and I loved playing 40k, but LARP, as goofy as it can be, has my passion, and the fact that I can't take part in something I've fallen in love with is spirit-breaking.

Sorry for the blogpost, but I was hoping I could get some advice. I don't live anywhere near a gym - Closest gym from where I live is two hours away - And all I have is an old exercise bike. I need to get into shape. Not just drop this fat, but gain strength, gain endurance, gain stamina.

Do you have access to a pool? Swimming is a good way to burn off calories without putting much pressure on a messed up knee.

Also, read the sticky.

16f292  No.138752

>>138751

I read the sticky both on here and halfchan /fit/.

I don't have acess to a pool - Like I said, I live in the middle of nowhere - Just lots of northern forests around me.

>I was hoping I could get some advice.

Okay. Work towards a high carbohydrate diet that is low in fat with a high ratio of saturated to unsaturated fat. It's okay if you have moderate saturated fat intake in the beginning, but if you never lower your intake of dietary fat, you will find it very difficult to shed your body fat. Your body is constantly replenished by the dietary fat which you eat. The unsaturated fat—especially polyunsaturated—is the most stubborn to lose and creates toxic byproducts such as prostaglandins, lipofuscin, and glycated proteins. The fat is aging you, and carbohydrates will give you energy. A high ratio of fructose in the carbohydrates you consume will be ideal as it will help you make cholesterol which will act as a shuttle for the removal of the aforementioned toxic byproducts. Increasing calcium, magnesium, and potassium intake will greatly assist in improving your metabolism.

In practice this means get a lot of your calories from low-fat dairy, fruit, fruit juice, and honey. For meat, lean beef (or another ruminant such as goats, lambs, deer, etc) is an excellent way to obtain protein because of the fat ratios and quality of protein. If you start eating beef liver 1-2 times per week it will correct many vitamin deficiencies in one fell swoop.

>I don't live anywhere near a gym

Your issue isn't not having a gym close to you. It's your fucked up diet.

Lose wait, get a knee sleeve and go for a walk (or try to run).

Once you'll be less of a fatfuck, then you should consider do body-weight exercises or consider buying some equipment.

See a nutritionist if you have the chance, otherwise just do intermittent fasting and watch out for your caloric intake.

I know. I meant more "What can i do without going to a gym" - halfchan /fit/ told me to go to a gym, despite there being none within two hours of me.

Focus on dieting.

If your muscles are atrophied and can't do actual exercises, start by doing pilates (yes, pilates like a faggot) and go for a walk daily.

dd1ecb  No.138767

1 fix you're nutrons. find tdee, eat at a deficit, eat a balanced healthy diet.

2 move more, you're not ready for heavy gym lifting. just go for walks or use that exercise bike. an hour a day.

its gonna suck the first month but focus on the improvement. once you start to see and feel the difference it'll motivate you to keep going.

bedf59  No.138768

Not goint to do a shitty thread for this, but heres my kind of related question:

My BMR is around 1600-1700. Dieting now for 5 weeks to get rid of the bellyfat.

Got a massive munchie last night and ate about 3k kcals in total that day.

So question is how much did i ruin? Tbh i dont really understand how much of that will be stored and how it translates in fatgain.

df97c0  No.138770

>>138768

The fat gain mostly depends on dietary fat. The calorie counting mindset is not able to predict what will become fat, because calories alone do not generally give enough context to infer what your body will do with the nutrients given. It is only in extreme excess that carbs are guaranteed to become fat through de novo lipogenesis, but whether it is the creation of fat or the creation of cholesterol from carbohydrates, it is usually a good thing in the long term as these processes work to both protect the liver and clear the body of toxic byproducts of polyunsaturated fats (and toxins in general). And these toxic byproducts interfere with the loss of body fat and increasing metabolic rate. The general rule is what dietary fat is eaten past a certain point is what will be stored as body fat. Instead of calorie counting, counting dietary fat intake will be much more likely to inform you on whether or not you are trending towards fat loss or fat gain (unless in ketosis where the game is different but it's not a wise game to play).

The premise of calorie counting relies on an assumption of equal usage and allocation of macronutrients in the body as long as they score the same in some measure of theoretically derivable energy. But no scientific inquiry has ever justified such an assumption.

>these toxic byproducts interfere with the loss of body fat and increasing metabolic rate.

these toxic byproducts interfere with the loss of body fat and they prevent increases of the metabolic rate.

you're probably lost 2 weeks worth of progress.

do a little more cardio each day and cut a few extra calories and you'll be back on track.

the whole eating fat makes you fat meme needs to die, same with calories are a myth.

everyone has their bro science on this but really just eat a healthy balanced diet and you'll make it.

8cb59d  No.138774

What you call "bro science" is simply reality. Mental gymnastics frequently beguiles and distracts, but there is no compelling retort able to overshadow the light of this truth: body fat is fat.

>>138774

I suppose that reads as if I accused you of mental gymnastics. I didn't. Actually, that was a bet. I foresee that nobody can come up with something better than mental gymnastics as a counterargument.

You could also buy some dumbbells or a mat and bring those at home. You don't have to use them every day, but get yourself used to footloose exercises. Like, with just a mat you can do these for your core:

>Straight crunch

>Plank

>Side-plank

>Sitting twists

You're not looking to be a chad, you're just looking for a healthy weight. You're doing that while starting from a very tough spot: overweight. The best answers to that are the simplest ones. Eat right, walk, sleep well. If you can use a bike for your daily commute, do. You will not simply see the results, you'll feel them.

Yeah I'm currently paying off some shit with my car, but once I've got the money I'm going to be buying a mat and dumbbells. And I don't want to just get to a healthy weight - I want to get /fit/, and have stamina so I can do that gay LARP shit I want to do.

Day 3. I hope I will be able to look back on these pictures and smile at how much I've changed. Am I gonna make it, brah?

Don't try to get beginners into Ray Peat shit, it will only put them off. 99% of his problems would be solved by a caloric defecit.

>>138811

When you're at a body weight where you'll get a lot out of calisthenics, you won't need to despair if you don't have any dumbbells. They're nice for when you aren't strong enough to do bodyweight stuff with all that extra weight but you can also use progressions.

Filling plastic bottles with water is the easiest way to get started. You probably won't even need to leave the house to put it together. Just be mindful of your surroundings and don't be too rough with them.

>Don't try to get beginners into Ray Peat shit

I think it only gets complicated in explaining why it is a good idea. It shouldn't be complicated, but it is when you struggle against convoluted brainwashing. Telling people to eat more fruit and less fat (especially less polyunsaturated fat) is simple. There are people that literally think orange juice is going to make them fat and diabetic though. This is when you start seeing walls of text referring to scientific findings to show why this is not the case. Boycotting vegetable oils should be a no brainer, but apparently it isn't because most people don't even know they eat absurd amounts of them and have a chronic toxic burden from them being stored in their tissues from years of eating soybean, canola, corn oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, etc.

Getting on the fruit train instead of a caloric deficit is great, because all that fructose will help make cholesterol that purges some of the circulating toxic burden from years of poor eating. I think caloric deficit will make his problems worse by putting his hormones further in the trash.

>they eat absurd amounts of them and have a chronic toxic burden

What's the issue with vegetable oil?

Olive oil is even linked to reduced LDL cholesterol and stroke risk.

df97c0  No.138842

>>138841

Olive oil is nothing compared to something like corn oil, canola oil, or soybean oil which are all widespread in the American diet. There are reasons I pass on the olive oil, but it's nowhere near the poison of other items titled vegetable oil. While both coconut oil and olive oil come from trees, they are strangely titled "vegetable" oils. Almost every other item with that title is not fit for human consumption.

ThinFa/tg/uy checking in. I also want to start LARPING, but in my case I traumatized myself into getting /fit/ thanks to some Erotica. Gotta get tough enough to kill that Futa Orc now.

52fdb2  No.139025

Putting your shirt back on is the first step putting down the fork is the second. When you become man-sized instead of whale-sized you can try to do some bodyweight exercises or go to the gym etc. For now walk and restrict calories. I'm not gonna candycoat it OP cause you'll just eat that too.

You're gonna make it breh. I started as a Cr 1/8 skelly, ate good, lifted heavy, and reworked my sleep habits til I started filling out. Just be stubborn and refuse to give up.
