Your stress hormones are too high to sleep through the night. You need to make sure glycogen stores in the liver are topped off before bed. If you crave something salty, sometimes a little salt with a meal can shutdown adrenaline production. (Just be sure to always get enough potassium, magnesium, and calcium when administering extra salt, especially in the long term.)

just starting out, you should be taking it slow, resting for a day, and starting small, low # reps

its not rocket science

even if you aren't going that hard for a certain day, it's not uncommon to rest a whole week before going at it

again, if you have only been working out for one month, being tired is good, it means your healthy

also, should you really be doing legs and arms in the same day?

why not pair biceps with triceps on one day, then lower/uper legs the next? its good to pair muscle groups

and remember, anons, stretching is the second best exercise

I suppose they've been pretty high, yeah. At the job I just lost, I was only getting 6 hours of sleep even when I'd planned for a full 8. That hasn't changed much even now that I'm between places. Gym had been an outlet for that.

Don't know enough bicep/tricep exercises for that. I've gotten in touch with a personal instructor to see if he can add to my regiment, but aside from bicep curls and tricep dips I wasn't sure which ones to do.

Huh. I was warned not to do stretching on the same day as lifting. Maybe I was told wrong.

And now I've had another night which was lousy to sleep through, and my throat's going. The most I've done in the past couple of days is eat and cycle through town.

This >>138735 is your problem. Remember that /fit/ness is 3-pronged: training, nutrition, and recovery. If you don't take the proper rest your body needs then you will end up having to skip a much larger portion of time than if you just did it correctly in the first place.

And I'll never sleep on the recovery part again.

I really thought I was doing okay since I wasn't exercising the same muscle areas two days in a row, but once every second day. I guess it needs a larger gap if I'm doing gym 6 days a week, huh?

Since I'm still out for the count and the headache's after getting worse, I gotta ask. There weren't many good pics in the infograph thread about recovering. What are the tips there? Aside from eating right and not doing any more exercise after the workout, how do I recover well?

Used to go extremely hard 5 days a week, worked for a couple of months but then it stopped, i got worse in the main lifts. Thought it was just a plateau but it turned out to be overtraining. You can compensate a little by taking large doses of Vitamin C before and after lifting to lower cortisol levels, but i recommend trying less days per week.
