I was blonde as I toddler too, now I'm a Mediterranean-nigger.

It has to do with the fact that infants require more vitamin D, therefore light skin and hair is an advantage when exposed to the Sun.

When you grow up you don't require it as much, thus the darkening of hair.

>Estrogen promotes hair loss.

Are you retarded? DHT promotes hair loss, that's why finasteride (DHT blocker) is used to stop hair loss in men. If estrogen promotes hair loss, why don't we see tons of bald women?

Estrogen has plenty of bad effects in men, but baldness isn't one.

58f9fe  No.138499

>>138498

>If estrogen promotes hair loss, why don't we see tons of bald women?

Estrogen is not the quintessential "female hormone". There is no such quintessential hormone—only a particular balance of hormones which is described as feminine. This myth was started as a marketing strategy by the estrogen industry so they could peddle estrogens as hormone replacement "therapies" even though they are well known to cause cancer and accelerate aging in these contexts. There is a class of hormones which sexualize both men and women, and those are estrogens. It is the way in which estrogen is antagonized by other processes which both feminizes and masculinizes.

Because there is no sexuality or fertility without the presence of estrogens in both men and women, estrogen is not only essential to feminization, but also masculinization. This is because masculinity and femininity are inherently sexual. Without estrogen, a person will behave and appear strangely nonsexual. Femininity and masculinity are largely produced by the interplay of progestins and androgens with estrogens. But both men and women make progesterone (and progestins in general) so it is not enough to say progesterone is the single defining factor which creates a woman. Rather it is more the overwhelming absence of androgens and the following redirection of hormone production to more progesterone which more accurately describes the state of women. That is to say women are defined more by the absence of things, and men are more like women + additional factors.

But in practice we see men are frequently feminized by supplemental estrogens. This is because while in a natural, healthier hormonal balance, the antagonism of endogenous estrogens by androgens would usually increase masculinity, but by overwhelming the body's system of hormonal regulation with either absurd amounts of estrogens or varieties of estrogens which are much too stubborn to properly antagonize, masculinizing processes are weakened or lost. That is to say feminization is the loss of masculinity or the loss of the ability to oppose estrogens in a masculine way—not the acquiring of a feminine trait. (The feminine aspects were already there.) My best guess at the moment is that it requires more energy to create enough androgens to oppose a given amount of estrogen than to create enough progestins, and estrogens interfere with the production and flow of energy, so a system overwhelmed by them defaults to the more basic feminine state which is only able to produce mostly progesterone as its best effort.

Estrogens do in fact cause hair loss, but while women have a higher ratio of estrogen, they also have a higher ratio of progesterone which more strongly maintains the state of hair than androgens. However, in controlled experiments DHT also grows hair in vitro, but this wouldn't be obvious to those who only look at observational studies. It's true that higher levels of DHT are found on the scalps of bald men, but this is perhaps a red herring. The DHT is just an innocent fireman, trying to stop the damage, and he's always there at the scene of the crime ready to take the blame. The good news is that men don't have to rely on DHT alone to fix their hair. They can also apply progesterone to the scalp, and with sane amounts supplementing progesterone is actually androgenic. (Probably because it both supplies more substrate for the creation of other hormones and introducing it conserves energy and materials which would have been devoted to its creation.) Though I don't know as of yet if progesterone would do more to maintain or to regrow.

The mode of action for finasteride isn't its opposition of DHT.

c05e69  No.138504

Studying is antagonistic to the acceptance of truth. Instead I observe from afar without focus.

The singular focus on maximization of testosterone is frequently an estrogenic process, because testosterone potentially converts into estrogen through aromatization. Instead, a healthier premise is maintaining increases in DHT to match increases in testosterone. The 5-ar enzyme necessary for this is upregulated by glycine for example. Plentiful intake of fat soluble vitamins will also be beneficial. Vitamin K2 (MK-4) reliably increases androgens.

1. It has some progesterone-like qualities, probably because the starting material for its synthesis is progesterone.

2. Probably by lowering interferon-γ, which causes hair loss by increasing phospholipase A₂, which causes hair loss by eventually increasing prostaglandin D₂.

I've seen it mentioned that androgens can upregulate interferon-γ, but it's not so simple. Apparently testosterone increases production of interleukin-10, and interleukin-10 decreases interferon-γ.

Furthermore, interferon-γ decreases testosterone production, so if there is an increase of interferon-γ attributable to androgens, it seems like it would be a negative feedback loop. An additional tidbit I ran across is that obese children have increased interferon-γ-secreting cells, and obesity is not normally indicative of a high androgen profile.

BUT men are more prone to stress and have increased cortisol secretion. Prepubertal castration has been shown to lower plasma corticosteroid levels at rest, and acute stress can raise interferon-γ. I think this is partly because androgens are metabolically expensive, and in having to meet more energetic demands because of the androgens, males become more sensitive to stress.

So if you want to say finasteride works by downregulating the adrenal hyperactivity associated with stress + androgens by opposing androgens, I think it explains things much better, because the direct, positve effect of androgens on hair growth shouldn't be ignored as seen in this in vitro experiment:

Thornton, M. J., Messenger, A. G., Elliott, K., & Randall, V. A. (1991). Effect of androgens on the growth of cultured human dermal papilla cells derived from beard and scalp hair follicles. Journal of investigative dermatology, 97(2), 345-348.

https://doi.org/10.1111/1523-1747.ep12480688

full text: http://sci-hub.hk/10.1111/1523-1747.ep12480688

(In figure 2, testosterone stimulates scalp hair growth more than beard hair!)

But the real devil in the details here are the ω-6 fatty acids. Without significant levels of ω-6 fatty acids in the diet, influential amounts prostaglandin D₂ that would cause this baldness cannot be made. This is why it is male pattern baldness, and not inevitable male baldness. Prostaglandin and stress levels are the major factors here. Androgens only influence the way in which one responds to stress and the way in which one handles prostaglandins. They don't make you eat vegetable oils high in linoleic acid, and they don't force you into stress—just predispose you to it.

So the preventive remedies are:

1. Avoid ω-6 fatty acids.

2. Avoid excessive stress.

3. Take supplements such as vitamin E and C to reduce prostaglandin D₂ formation.

If stopping the damage done to the scalp by prostaglandin D₂ is enough to allow bald spots to grow hair again, those remedies may be more than preventative.

>why did this happen?

Human babies are born very early in development compared to other animals, our bones haven't hardened and our brain can barely form memories. Melanocytes (pigment carrying cells) can take a while to migrate to various parts of the body and start producing pigment. Blonde hair is just the lack of pigment in the hair. Once the cells migrate and start doing their thing you're hair changes color. Same reason why black babies are born looking very pale and over the next few days darken up. Sometimes melanogenesis can be delayed for quite sometime, it's just the genetic roll of the dice.

>if so is there any way to go back to my "natural" hair color

Your brown hair IS your natural hair color, if it wasn't then you wouldn't have developed the brown hair.
