how far can I get with a 50kg (100lb) dumbell? I have it at home, and will be too poor to afford the gym for a while.

I was a total fatass and made good progress for the past two months since I started but I am still in DYEL mode. I can do practically every exercise with 50kg except curls at this point. My curls are at 40kg (80lb)

I want to know if I can get fit with these weights.

633564  No.137141

also are deadlifts even an option? I feel nothing when I deadlift this little.

for size/weight comparison I am 183cm or 6ft and weight 104kg (208lb)

You curl a 40Kg dumbbell?

What the fuck do they feed you in Serbia?

633564  No.137143

oh fuck, just realized I made a huge mistake. not a dumbell, a barbell.

>>137142

I can curl a 40kg barbell, I fucked up.

one hand or two handed curl?

693427  No.137145

>>137140

there is one other thing I think you are missing, if you are really poor but still motivated, I don't think being poor can stop you. I think with a little creativity, some plastic bottles (jugs) and shit you can figure it out.

two handed curl, it is a barbell after all.

>>137145

oh I have had improvised weights before, these ones I have right now are the best I've had so far as far as weight and handling goes.

I am thinking of taking two of these concrete bins from parks around here and cementing them in with a bar in between in the future, when 50kg becomes too light.

I've seen tires used as poor man's bumper plates. Maybe check an auto shop and see if they have any that there throwing out.

Tires with the rim. Even if it's a bit rusty you can always paint it

so what you're saying is 100lb is too little?

Yeah, you should get into calisthenics instead.

>also are deadlifts even an option? I feel nothing when I deadlift this little.

It's a very low weight for deadlifts, but maybe if you do multiple sets with many reps each, you'll get something out of it. It's not the same as deadlifting heavy weight though, you're supposed to do one set of your 5-rep max.

Power cleans, jerks, snatch, ab roller (using bb), pendlay row, krok row (1 hand), ohp, bent press (look it up, it's a strongman thing), front raise, lateral raise, and basically ANY AND ALL FUCKING CREATIVE MOVEMENT. Start with one of the basic push/pull vertical/horizontal movements and then start getting creative with it

The faster you do a normal weight lifting movement the more gains. Working out at different speeds on different days is good. Doing slow shit through awkward movements is also good. Work out for time if the weight is too light. 100 reps in a set is still good training. Hook some shit on the ends for more weight.

dbfa51  No.137224

It won't get your ripped but that will take you a fair distance. Also mix in some bodyweight shit, at least pullups if your fat ass can do that yet. If not, that'll be a good day for you when you can do a chinup. Also get creative like >>137159 and >>137148 said, with your movements and for shit to add weight. Be smart though and don't force it or do weird ass moves that will snap your shit or pin you under a pile of tires or something.

might get shit on for this but not looking to get ripped, building muscle is solid for me as it is. If I can make decent gains with 50kg, I will make due with 50kg. Respect to you who are leaving humanity behind though.

I want strength but also to convert/shave some of the fat I have, and I often go on 60km marches with some buddies (once every 1-2 months) and that is good enough for me.

with all said, thanks for the support /fit/bros.

>If I can make decent gains with 50kg

You can, but you should consider buying a pair of dumbbells to use those fiddy with.

I would recommend checking out Decathlon if you have it in your country.

They would allow you to do:

>bench/floor press

>flys

>bicep curls

>shoulder press

>french curls

>bulgarian squat

Essentially allowing you to easily cover the whole body.

633564  No.137246

I actually have dumbell bars, but the weights are stupidly wide for them because they were meant for the barbell. It kind of restricts movement.

d91e5b  No.137247

>>137246

Understood. When I bought my weights I got them all with a 28mm hole.

Also I wanted to post a pic so you could tell me what to work on. Before today I only did sit ups for my stomach and that wasn't doing shit, but I did roll-outs today and it felt actually straining, so I might have better progress with that. I can't quite make it when I do pull ups, I always stop short of pulling myself over the bar, but I am trying.

Best tip I can give you for pullups that worked for me is to lose weight. I know it sounds simple but it's really the most overlooked

633564  No.137254

working on it. At a 2000 calorie deficit right now, and I lost 6 pounds in 4 days when I was eating only 500 cal a day.

>>137254

Try something less extreme, Scooby recommends ~25% deficit if you want to keep your muscle mass and strength relatively the same. I can tell you have decent muscle mass that you wouldn't want to lose just to drop overall weight quicker. Remember that not all weight loss is good (in your case a great deal was probably water weight), you want to lose just the fat otherwise the pullups won't become easier they'll be even harder.

633564  No.137282

>>137256

I'm actually like 6ft1 and 208lb, my daily average calorie spending with exercise+my job is like 3500 cal, so I've toned it down to 1500 calories. My buddies coach said I can maintain my muscle mass and slim down if I eat high protein dishes while I lose weight. I got like 23 days to go, so it won't be much longer.
