I recently joined a gym and started reading Starting Strength.

What weightlifting shoes should I get? I'm 5'11" and have 31" inseam if that's in any way helpful to determine the ideal heel height.

The Adidas Powerlift 3 seem pretty good for the price and have a 0.6" heel, but it's made of EVA which is more compressible than TPU, so it's probably not ideal for weightlifting.

I'd prefer a big-brand shoe because they're easier to find in stores and I'd rather try them on in instead of ordering online.

Get a pair of Converse and stop reddit-spacing, faggot.

I lift barefoot at home. and I see no reason to pay for a gym membership when I have a decent weight set and bench in my garage

Adidas if you have narrow feet. Reebok if your feet are wider.

Do most of my lifting barefoot though.

I lift in flat bottomed boots, no heel.

This has got to be bait.

Oof, I didn't see that. I retract my advice about lifting shoes. If OP needs them at this point, OP really needs to just work on ankle and hip mobility.

c9357c  No.136914

take a 1kg/2.5lb pair of plates, put them on the ground, spread them to your squat stance and step on them with only your heel. problem solved

ef3c9f  No.137195

you don't need weightlifting shoes to low bar squat and power clean, or plates under your heels for that matter

8932f4  No.137335

when you can snatch bodyweight in your converse and are considering competing on a platform, then it's time to purchase weightlifting shoes.

This.

Don't even think of special gear (weightlifting belt and such) until you can do 8 pullups, overhead press lmao2plaet, squat lmao3plaet, AND lmao4plaet. All with perfect form.
