The manager "mostly" has the final say, but if a customer complains, corporate will tell him/her to shut 'em down and if they don't comply, they'll lose their job, so most either ring the stupid alarm on you, or they just don't give you the option at all by taking out the heavy weights. If they at least had a pool I might be able to tell a hungry skeleton or fatass that Planet Shitness is worth investing into for 3-6 months to get your shit together, but last I checked they make you sign up for a year contract, and they don't even have swimming pools so you're basically paying to rent cardio equipment. Don't even get me started on the mental gymnastics Planet Shitness members will use to justify their membership when you call them out for not using a real gym.
If you have to use a meme gym/McGym, I've found that Crunch Fitness is the most bang for your buck (it's like Planet Fitness, but for $10 more you get free weights/machines/a pool, and the staff will ignore you unless you're slamming equipment around), followed shortly after by 24 Hour Shitness if you like to work out late or are military military gets a fucking great discount at 24 Hour Shitness, and they'll sometimes give you the military deals if you're planning to go in within the next six months/can pull up text messages from your recruiter. Obviously a real gym is preferable, but if you can't work with regular gym hours or can't afford a real gym, those two are you next two best bets. I've been at 24 hour for about a year now. I hate that the place is packed with at least 200-300 people at virtually all times on the weekdays until 10PM when it drops down to about 100 people, but most of them are niggers so they tend to avoid the pool/free weights, so other than bench press I can almost always work my way into my routine with maximum wait time of 5 minutes. Funnily enough, there's virtually no one there Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
