I want to buy a bed (the right bed for me), since I'm going to move out. The beds I've had before were all bought by my parents and I never really cared what I sleep on.

Redpill me on sleeping furniture. Is a futon bed a viable option?

Am I a weeb faggot if I think Japanese futons look cozy as fuck?

No, but I really have no idea if they're as comfortable as they look. They're mainly used for compactness these days, so unless you'd kill for more living space, stick with a mattress/boxspring/frame combo. Do not fall for Internet meme mattress companies, they suck and pay for positive reviews from bloggers. Go to a mattress store and try before you buy.

Get a ghostbed and be done with it. Not terribly cheap but stupid-comfy and no box spring required. You can even throw it on the floor if needed.

I bought a memory foam mattress last fall. Best I’ve slept my entire life.

Between the mattress and the box it was 400$.

Never going back to a spring mattress again

I really recommend sleeping on the floor. Big soft beds are just a health hazard tbh, they inevitably become massive bacterial colonies and get noticeably heavier from bed mites. It's also terrible for your back, the lack of stress on your spine weakening it.

Sleeping on the floor using blankets or a thin one-or-so-inch mattresses is far superior. Their really conformable (you might wake up sore at first if you're a pussy). They can be put away - giving you extra space. Their far healthier, and can actually be cleaned and aired out.

Chicks might give you a look when they see, but it hasn't been a problem so far.

I'm currently sleeping on a old cot mattress I found in my family storage but it's pretty good. I've heard good things about nip shikibuton but I haven't tried it.

Remember to sleep straight on your back with your hands straight down by your sides (hands above sheets!), a pillow and something to keep your knees up, and always breath with you nose.

They aren't bad. I have been sleeping on a futon for the last five years. I bought it when I was in Japan and had it shipped back with my gear, so I don't know if there is a domestic manufacturer or whether they are better or not. Just as warm as a really thick quilt or comforter would be which is why I usually sleep with a sheet during the summer. It's not super hard on the floor or something. Need to be aired out and beaten on a fairly regular basis. Really it's just nice to have the extra space for a power cage in my room so I can keep my living room open. They make custom linen sets for them but they run the range of cheap chink shit to expensive as fuck kind of thing a girl would be impressed with if you didn't have a fucking power cage in your bedroom.

The authentic ones are supposed to be good for your back, but there's a lot of cheap chink knockoffs of them so you have to be careful when buying them. The good ones are made out of cotton, which absorbs a lot of sweat so you have to air them out or put a padded mattress cover on them before you sleep.

This.

Mattresses are only bad for the spine.

I'm a supplier for mattress manufacturers. Don't buy name brands because its all made by the same people. A good chunk if not all of the traditional spring mattresses are manufactured in China. I know because I've been there on site as part QC group. Someone made a joke about getting the expensive mattress from Sweden or some Eurocuck country, next thing we know one of the factory workers walked over to a drawer and opened it up and asked which country of manufacture and brand we want stitched on there.

I always sleep on my sides, is that bad? Been feeling some discomfort in my shoulders, might be related

Are you a fatty?

99% of sleep related pain is due to being weak and/or overweight. Put down the nocilla and get in some extra cardio.

t. former fatty.

Built but bulking, if anything my shoulders are getting to broad to sleep comfortably on my sides
