Hey /fit/. What do you think of these ?

A hardcore gymbro started using these lately and claims they are great. Wants to get really strong ones to get decent training out of them and claims light ones are great for a full body warmup.(I am mostly referring to the ones without a grip)

What is your opinion on resistance bands ?

Increases rate of force at the bottom of a rep to use momentum to complete it. Not enough dynamic forces in people's training, so bands are good I guess.

You can get the same and better training from throwing a weight in the same exercise you would use a band, or an explosive version of it. Front raises can be front raise throws, ab crunches can be slamming a medicine ball into the ground or a sledgehammer, push ups can be clap push ups, etc.

I was thinking of buying one to do cross-overs, since I train with a power-rack at home, and don't have access to cables… but besides Scooby advocating them, I heard mixed opinions.

I guess I'll have to try for myself.

I only use 'em when I'm stretching.

Is it feasible to do chest flys with them? I don't have room for a machine.

I started off my /fit/ journey doing home exercises with resistance bands.

You can start off the same way if you're a noob so that it becomes habit-forming and then move on to a proper gym with heaps of power racks and barbells after several months.

I think they're pretty good for home workouts or when you're lacking a proper gym,

but I bet they're also hyped overprice

if you're in the gym though just use fucking weights

Just as hue here said, they're way overpriced. Best to get 2 adjustable dbs with weights. Get the bars and weights separate unless you find a deal. Craigslist would work. You can get that shit for free even.

Maybe they ain't worth much, but the heaviest around here are at best 14 euro. And the ones you actually need 25-35 kg range are 10 euro.

I guess prices have gone down. Football and cross fit types use them because they produce a purely (relatively pure) concentric load, without the eccentric.

I guess OP could use them for martial arts. Knee strike, leg strike, hand strike, head butt, jumping, etc.

Resistance bands are the only way to get ripped in space. Your weights and plates are no good there.

they are a fair price on amazon if you search carefully enough.
