Pushups and situps aren't even tested for the Canadian Military. All you need to pass BMQ/BMOQ from a fitness perspective are:
>1. Sandbag lift - 30 consecutive lifts of a 20kg sandbag to a height above 91.5cm, alternating between left and right sandbags separated by 1.25 - completed within 3 minutes, 30 seconds.
>2. Intermittent Loaded Shuttles - complete 20 shuttle runs (20m run one way, 20m run back), alternating between a loaded shuttle with a 20kg sandbag and an unloaded shuttle for a total of 400m - completed within 5 minutes, 21 seconds.
>3. Sandbag drag - carry one 20kg sandbag and pull a minimum of four on the floor over 20m without stopping - completed without stopping
>4. 20 meter rushes - starting from prone, complete two shuttle sprints, dropping to the prone position every 10m, for a total of 80m.
That's it. Sure, cardio doesn't hurt, but those are the 4 performance objectives that need to be passed in order to graduate from basic.
