How do I stop my hair from being greasy? I don't have particularly greasy hair but I want to distinguish myself from the neckbeards surrounding me as much as possible

b55d62  No.132150

Shampoo actually does this. Was your hair only with hard soap every day. If i mean every day i mean every day. Not once in a week like you do. Every day.

Half the people say that overusing shampoo is what causes greasiness

Your hair is greasy because your scalp is too dry and your scalp is trying to fix that by producing sebum. How often do you use shampoo? More than once every 7-10 days? Then there's your problem. Go 2 weeks without using shampoo and it should normalize. Wash your hair daily ofc but only with warm water. Important: when you use shampoo only use glycerin free shampoo!

Also I noticed that when I have a cardio day where I sweat a lot my hair is perfect after rinsing it with warm water.

Cut it shorter and you can go longer between showers without looking like a wet seal. Other than that, just take a shower and use shampoo thoroughly, use your fingertips to scrub the scalp.

It's also genetic, I tried the nopoo bullshit and my hair never stopped being greasy. The difference was marginal, if that. Not saying for OP not to give a try, maybe with his genetics it will work, but I have thick, greasy hair and it didn't for me.

You want some grease in your hair, otherwise it's dry and lifeless. Try shampooing every 3-5 days.

You could try actually greasing your hair, and then no one would know when it's actually greasy. Then you wouln't have to worry about this crap.

as i said not like i expect any smart response or to comprehend basic english. IQ in America is falling hard.

ill explain for more unfortunate such as you what i meant.

shampoo = bad

bar of soap = good

Any more questions? I will explain it in very simplistic way so even kids from kindergarden could comprehend.

But shampoo is soap

747add  No.132309

>>132305

>But shampoo is soap

Shampoo is not soap.

soap = fat + strong alkali (like sodium hydroxide, a drain cleaner)

Shampoo is a surfactant + a co-surfactant. E.g., sodium lauryl sulfate + cocamidopropyl betaine. The idea of shampoo is to bubble up the micro-burger bits stuck in your hair so they can be washed off with the microplastic-contaminated water.

Believe it or not this is not autism, shampoo is literally not soap.

It is not soap-like, it does not contain soap, it doesn't even claim to be soap if you pay attention. These aren't semantics or a conspiracy either this is a clear, commonly known thing.

Now if you want to get into whether shampoo is the devil and you should only use soap well I'm not gonna touch that one, but that said if shampoo isn't giving you the results you want it cant hurt to try switching to soap for a while.

1 week without shampoo, only thorough washing with warm water. My psoriasis is already much better, hair feels a bit thicker yet not really greasy. Will continue and see where it goes.

10 days in, hair roots are getting greasy and leathery feeling, will continue as long as there's no itching/pain.

When I shower I don't use anything but water, a loofa, and my hands. I wash my hands with soap, but that's it. My hair is great, it's never dry, and I can run my fingers through it without getting stuck.

It's all about balance. Just like if you wash your face and body too much, they respond by just producing way more oil.

9503d4  No.133763

Greasy Italian here. When I was young, I had to wash my hair twice a day. I just did it in the kitchen sink in the morning, only takes a few minutes, feels much better. If I didn't wash my hair for a few days, I'd be waterproof like a duck. These people who preach not washing your hair, can't possibly be greasy in the first place.

c7659f  No.133764

>>133763

What >>133752 said. The more often you wash it the faster it gets greasy. So if you reduce it bit by bit you can go longer every time.

578713  No.133790

>>133764

If that were true, it still wouldn't be worth walking around smelling like rancid oil for a few months.
