It is a permadiet, meaning you never leave it or change it into something else. There's a period of fasting or undereating of 16 to 20 hours (sleeping included) followed by an 8 to 4 hour window of overeating. You don't eat carbs in the undereating phase except maybe a fruit or vegetable.
