Hey /fit/ can I get into shape by just doing bodyweight exercises and cardio? Would I be able to build muscle strength?

You could do it, it just wouldn't be very efficient

Of course you can, and it's the best way.

Can you do at least 20 strict push ups and 10 strict pull ups?

The world is your gym.

Yes you can.

I've been doing only bodyweight and cardio for the last two years. I'm in the best shape of my life.

It'll take much more time to accomplish your goals than in the gym, but your gains are going to stay with you forever.

And unless you're into steroids, don't ever feel pressured to look like the guy in the video above.

I don't think you can get buff like a bodybuilder or a powerlifter with bodyweight only.

But you can get pretty strong.

Handstand pushups, one legged squats, v-sits, dips, pullups… those are powerful exercises.

Only in like half of the exercises, the rest are body weight. You can do those same exercises unweighted, adding weight is just a more advanced progression.

In any case I interpreted OP's question in a broader sense, in which weighted calisthenics play a part. I'm not a purist, I advocate whatever works.

ece265  No.127966

You can do with a simple weight set in six months what it takes to do a year in bodyweight exericises.

And the differences aren't linear, they're exponential. You can do in a year with weights what it would take four years bodyweight.

Remember GOMAD? If you're not eating like a pig, you're not doing the program. And if you're not doing the program, you're not going to be getting the crazy gains Rip keeps shilling. What's more important than chasing after dream promises from a barbell salesman is developing good, sustainable habits that you can keep for a lifetime. Not Ronnie. Not Rich. SCOOBY

I'm moving in a few months and it's not worth finding a place to do serious lifts in the meantime. Are there any good starter routines for bodyweight exercises that will tide me over? For what it's worth I plan on going with SS with my move is complete.

Here you go. You can't get as big with BW as with weights, but you can still get in damn good shape.

Would it be OK if I did cardio in rest days? I need it for health reasons, but I dont want to put too much strain on my body.

324e90  No.142876

>>127312

You have define strength

Of course you'll get "stronger", but that can mean many things

A 400 lbs bloatmax can DL 700lbs, but he most likely cannot do sets of clap pushups. The same logic applies to the 155lb athlete.

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert at anything, but I can say with certainty that it depends on your goals.

Do you want to lift big shit, or do you want to move your body in extreme ways with ease?
