I wanna start doing boxing as an exercise pastime. What's the best for quality and price range for all the equipment? Seems like a lot of low quality equipment goes into much higher price ranges.

If you are joining a boxing gym, the only things you really need are gloves, wraps and a mouthguard. The last two shouldn't cost you more than like $10 put together.

Major brands produce everything, from the cheapest (in every sense of the word) gear to world-class professional equipment. You generally get what you pay for.

Mostly cheap, low quality: Everlast, Title, Ringside

Pricey, but high quality: Winning, Reyes

Middle of the pack, few cheap options, some very high quality items: Leone, Rival, maybe Venum and Adidas

This man holds the truth.

Only thing i can add is that your first gloves should be ones you can use for both sparring and bagwork. I use 14oz venums which are fine, but you should consult your coach for proper glove weight.

Muay Thai is really fun. We use 16oz gloves

BTW, the only reason I qualified Venum with a "maybe" is because I have never actually owned a pair. I do, however, train on a regular basis with people who do and they all seem to be satisfied with them. Based on their opinions, and on what I've read on forums, etc. I would definitely consider them for my next purchase.

Which reminds me of Fairtex, another worthy gloves manufacturer They are from Thailand and are huge in the Muay Thai world. They also manufacture boxing gloves and they are well regarded.

Another thing that should be mentioned about gloves, is leather is better than synthetic and lace-up provides better wrist support than velcro, but you'll need help from another person to tie them up, velcro is more practical for training, but is not allowed on competition.

I don't box personally, but if you join a decent gym you might be able to get some second hand gloves to start with at a cheaper price

These are my first better pair of gloves so i cant really compare them to anything but cheap and shitty 20e gloves i used to have. Gloves seem good in general though, good wrist support and thump protection with affordable mid range price/quality.

>>123709

Gyms can also get you pretty good deal on new pair. I got mine from gym contact for really cheap. I think the price was close the manufacturing price.

I bought Title gloves. The quality price/ratio is not bad, even though >>123618 put them in the shit tier list. Maybe it depends on the models? Anyways, boxing is god tier. Probably the toughest sport I've ever done (I started some months ago). Would definitely recommend.
