Two years ago I diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis, the world's least spellable type of Arthritis. My doctor said that the best thing for me was take my meds and to stay in shape and flexible as much as I could. So ever since then I've been doing cardio 3 - 5 times a week,(jump rope, jogging, agility exersises) and every thing was good.
Fast forward to this past January and my doctor says my annual check up showed signs of nerve damage in my lower lumbar and damage in my knees, so I've been forced to swear off all the exercise routines I know how to do that focus on weight loss and flexibility. I just though "fuck it, I'm in good enough shape, I'm not gonna get that much bigger", fast forward to two weeks ago and I had gained 30 fucking pounds.
Ever since, I've been getting on the ellipical and stationary bike at my apartmentment complex at least every day (and almost every day) and doing stretches beforehand and some light weight lifting after, but I feel like there has to be a better way to do this.
What I really want to do is get back into martial arts, but I really don't have the time since I'm working full time and going back to school for a second degree. My complex has a pool too, but it's really too small to do much excersise in.
So /fit/, any tips to get back in shape on fucking hard mode? I'm looking for good cardio exercises that won't make my shitty bones turn to dust, preferably ones that work out a wider range of muscle groups so I don't look fucking asymmetrical?
Also, medical hard mode thread.
