Now taking your suggestions for February Film Club. Since awards season is underway and we've had a month to reflect on the past year in film, my thought was to focus on 2014 releases. So if you've got an interesting title in mind – or a different theme entirely – let us know!

There's been a slight increase in activity lately, so hopefully we can keep the momentum going. Every thoughtful post makes the board a better place, although regular posts are good too.

I've added a list of Featured Topics to highlight some of the better threads for new visitors. For now I did not include an old (saged) shitposting thread, but in case you want to go bananas without affecting the front page… it's right here: >>496

I'm also considering spotlighting Film Club with images on the sides of the Comment Box, kind of like the banner at r/TrueFilm. But we'll see if that makes the page look too cluttered.

It's about time for a new film but there have been no suggestions since Jan 28. Frankly I thought looking at 2013-4 would have generated more input.

If nothing else we can do the documentary on Cannon Films which I just watched. None of the other new films I've seen lately were particularly noteworthy.

To clarify, this month we're looking for notable releases from the past couple of years that haven't been discussed here yet. So there's an open opportunity for one of you to share a recent favorite with the board.

If not, Plan B is the Cannon doc. It's not life and death here, just need to pick something and go with it for the last week of the month.

Sounds great, I'm glad you changed your mind. Which one do you want to do? (Be sure it's not too hard for people to find a copy.)

You can make a Film Club thread similar to the past ones. It's not too much work.

Examples: >>3185 >>3053

The basic structure has come to include:

- a poster for the OP

- a brief introduction to the film -- perhaps mention its genre, country or director (no need to give a detailed plot synopsis)

- a couple of brief quotes from reviews that you find accurate or interesting

- a link to the imdb page

- if available, a link to some analysis that goes in depth

- a couple of appealing screenshots for the first reply

Add whatever personal comments you wish, of course.

I'll try to make a banner at some point too. Let me know if you have a good screenshot to be narrowly framed, otherwise I will try to find one.
