There's no evidence of that. It's pseudo-science mumbo jumbo that became a part of popular culture. Not only that, but the meme actually states it's looking up and to the LEFT (the right is meant to imply they're using the creative part of their brain rather than something from memory). But there's no solid grounding on people looking up and to the left when recalling a memory. Based on what I've read there's a variety of eye movement involved.
Not that you can't use it in a roleplay but I don't know how many people would even understand what you're referencing for that.
