I find as I get older, people get more idealistic about how they think life should work. It's often said idealism is the heart of youth and age brings clarity but I have yet to see that.
Most literature read by people over 30 is either self-help, politics, philosophy, or religion. Most adults I talk to seem dumbfounded about the out natural science. They think every natural disaster is a conspiracy or a divine or psycho-somatic effect.
If it's not that, it always has to have some symbolic meaning. Any new cultural product is "a hidden evil" yet justify the vices of the past as "raw expression of genuine humanity."

people over 30 already have careers and long term goals so they focus their free time on metaphysics. Actually it was 30 years old the age students in ancient Greece could begin studying philosophy, before that they only studied practical/technical/utilitarian subjects like math, psysichs and music.
This is a pretty underage take tbh, don`t know where this thread is even going.

People under 30 are all busy going to college, having a social life and going from one relationship to the next.

Weird, for me its the exact opposite, I'm early 30s and nowadays I dont expect anything good from life anymore, my only wish is for the lack of more bad stuff happening to me because I have had enough of that shit, but odds are the worst is just to come: family dying, getting older, diseases, body failing, world only getting worse, career dead-end, etc

same, in my case all the major stuff happened already, like family dying, debt, poverty, disease, tragic accidents, etc. I am not looking for much i know that down the road all is left is ending completely alone once my father dies and my health deteriorating, already my body is showing signs i am going to be fucked up the next few years, like my back problems and not so good kidneys. Optimism makes no sense at this point, apatheia is the most i can aspire to.

im starting my 20's and yup, sucks when you realize that some adults are asking life advice to you instead of being the other way. i guess it is a problem that has always been there but with the internet it started to come to light, in the sense that now the young has te hability to see things outside of an individual field of view and have a real (often sad) approach to the world. still i have trouble accepting that adults are just kids that pay bills and work, and the consecuence of that being the erase of ideals to people we use to admire (people close to us or some thinker who lived 500 years ago). not to mention that of course this includes oneself's actions and ways of living, but in that side it is cool because i think it can help on being more self aware and introspective, specially to not end like the old people you mentioned

I honestly dont admire anyone anymore, I might be impressed by something they did in particular but I dont admire them as a person.

No idea, i haven`t been to the doctor in years, but peeing sometimes is very uncomfortable and sometimes i get pain on my sides and sitting is akward, theres probably something going bad there.
>but I dont admire them as a person
that should be the norm, celebrity culture is garbage and modern art is pure degeneracy with the whole mixing the art and the artists personal life to the point of removing art altogether and making it only about the author . One should admire great deeds and great works on their own merits but twitter only makes it worse, i liked it better when creators were not approachable like that and you only knew the stuff they did after it released.

There must have been a lot of loonies like that back then too, but one was none the wiser, they must have had their mailing lists or very shitty forums now theres a comment box with a million of them everywhere one looks, so much negativity attached to even the most mundane inoquous things.
Experiencing shows like that without immediately also experiencing the mob reaction to it was really cool, we had to make our own minds like we are supposed to, not get bombarded with the public consensus.
