This is going to take me a bit to parse, but it looks breddy gud to me. First thoughts, Battle Golem is absolutely pointless when Warform is the same price and basically puts you inside the Battle Golem. I would much rather be a huge monster capable of defending myself that a squishy piece of meat hiding behind the huge monster.

Also, Healing is half the price of the Medical Pod, does pretty much the same thing, and is always with you. Unless you're going to need to heal two people at once which you'd need both for, Healing is the clear superior choice.

>Drawbacks

Starting with this for easier calculation. The way I'm reading this, it seems that if you get Slow-Moving and Inaccurate together, you get a bonus +2 for each of them? If so, my starting total is 48.

>Dimensional Powers

Gateway is the the cheapest mode of transport that I can stow in the Room with Expansion I'm going to get. Detect will cue me in to possible incoming shitstorms, and Forsee is is pretty much necessary for not blindly dropping in to said shitstorms. Total to 38.

>Physical Powers

Perfect Health and Healing for comfort and safety, Twist Flesh because it lets me blend into non-human populations in a way that is invisible to True Sight. Taking Sustenance

just in case my Inaccurate travel drops me in the middle of a desert or something. Inviolable just in case I gain the attention of some threat. Total 27.

>Mental powers

Just Combat Skill. This is again basically a necessity. You may find yourself up shit creek, this is your paddle. Total 25.

>Arcane Powers

How 'bout the power of Flight, does that do anything for ya? That's levitation, holmes. Alter form, Shapeshift, Invisibility, and Illusion to stay under the radar. Warform, Awareness, and Precog if I fail to. Warform is fantastic, it's basically Powerhouse, Shield, Armour, Battle Golem, an an improved Sustenance all rolled into one. Heck, it makes the Spaceship redundant if you have Flight. Big spender here, I'm now at 8.

>Equipment

Tricking out my Room with Internet, Furnishings, and a Computer And I have just enough to make traveling easier with Money.

So if I'm reading Beginner correctly, I get all the gear I want, but otherwise start with only the power points from my other drawback(s) and I have an unlimited amount of points, but they accumulate ridiculously slowly.

My only real question is the -4 penalty and if it applies to the points from other drawbacks. From what I understand, it does not, so here is the plan:

Take Beginner with Homeless as my other drawback.

My starting 2 points are spent on Room. Whatever universe I end up in, I have the room, so I just move everything into the room. Flying Car, Spaceship, and Library are the only things I'd worry about not fitting. I find an out of the way place in my new home dimension to set up my room portal, either in the wilderness, or in a cheap building I buy/rent with all my Money.

I have a Food Printer so I won't starve, and a Medical Pod so I shouldn't starve. I also have Armor, an Armory, and a killbot can help me defend my Room should any unsavory sorts come upon my portal and the Medical Pod will heal any wounds that I sustain in defending it.

I also have an Emma Watson sex slave. I cannot stress the importance of this enough.

I will sit in my room reading from the Library and enjoying my Emma Watson as I wait for more of my powers to develop with all the initial points going into improving my room with Secure and Expansion in that order. After that would probably be Eidetic Memory and Patience. With the -4 modifier, it would take me (44^2)/52= 37.2 years to achieve 40 points as though I had not taken the Beginner drawback (But actually sooner if you consider the points that would have been spent on items.) There are 150 points worth of powers, so I could get every single power in (154^2)/52=456 years. This isn't a real problem since me and my Emma Watson are immortal and I will be very patient.

I'd probably miss home a bit but I'd get over it. By the time I had enough powers to feel secure in searching across the multiverse for home, everyone I know here would be dead anyway.

You are mistaken. If you read more closely the -4 penalty must be paid off by purchasing the listed drawbacks. At minimum, you must take Homeless and Apprentice or just Hunters and then you will have no more points to spend.

Physical Powers

[-1] Sustenance

[-4] Willpower

Drawbacks

[-4] Beginner

[+5] Homeless

[+4] Hunters

Summary

Now that homeless is worth more points, taking beginner is less suicidal. I'll start as a homeless person in a strange world, but sustenance will keep me from dying of dehydration or starvation. So, I just need to survive the elements for a while, which should not be too hard because I took willpower which lets me rapidly teleport at will. I'll keep teleporting until I find a world that is favorable to surviving as a homeless person for about 9 weeks. After 9 weeks I'll be able to afford invisibility, which will let me steal what I need and sleep in the comfort of other peoples homes until I can afford the pocket plane.

I took the minor hunter drawback to afford willpower. The lone hunter has a general idea of my location, but I'll be long gone by the time he gets there because I can teleport at will.

Beginner still isn't completely safe, but now I think it's worth risk for the huge reward. I'll be acquiring all of the powers in a few hundred years.

More like a Millennia, or 1017.3 years to be more precise. At 750 though you'll have 197/230 points, so all the powers and a good portion of the tech, or some other combo :)

Beginner does seem like the obvious choice yeah, just as long as you can survive the first few weeks/months and whatever might be chasing you. I'd personally go for Homeless Minor, and Apprentice Minor and just hope I could convince the Apprentice not to kill me (and that I didn't end up somewhere too terrible), take Detect after the first week so I'd know when he or anyone else was coming, then perfect health after another 3 weeks and Coordination after that..

Admittedly that does seem a bit risky, and a 1% chance of being hurled across the multiverse isn't so bad, it would still be annoying though. If I did take Homeless Major then I'd spent the 3 extra points on Armor straight away, solves most of the immediate survival issues besides the Apprentice, and might keep me safe against him long enough to talk him down.

-=-=-=-=-=-

Ignoring Beginner however, my build would be as follows:

Starting with Drawbacks as the Late Bloomer rather affects how I've laid out my abilities:

Drawbacks (20): Late Bloomer (Major, 8), Weak (Minor, 8), Inaccurate (Major, 4)

Starting Powers:

Travel:

Detect (1), Room (2), Expansion (3), Secure (4)

Physical:

Perfect Health (1), Coordination (2), Healing (2)

Mental:

Eidetic (2), Patience (1), Combat Skill (2)

Arcane:

Awareness (1)

Eldritch:

Grow Crystal (1), Block Spell (2)

Equipment:

Library (3), Nano-CNC (3)

Late Bloomer is a little unclear if the powers come back all at once after 20 years, or if they trickle in at a steady rate. I think the latter makes more sense, so my other powers and the order they would come to me are (from first to last):

Thought Sense (1), Shut Down (4), Powerhouse (3), Dynakinesis (2), Track (2), Alter Self (1), Furnishings (1), Arcane Shard (3), Willpower (4), Foresee (2), Eternal Youth (4), Memories (4)

Admittedly I might be in a little bit of trouble if any other travelers come to earth before I get Willpower, but I've got Shut Down, and most of my other survival abilities (Perfect Health, Coordination, Healing, Combat Skill, Detect/Awareness, Block Spell, Shut Down, Powerhouse, and Dynakinesis should together make me fairly formidable.) either up front or within the first decade.

The plan though is to live out the first few decades on earth getting control of my powers and generally settling into being an immortal planeswalker, making use of my suddenly superhuman ability at most physical skills to get by, or else using the Nano-Printer to make and sell the latest model of laptops or whatever else seems nice and valuable and I can have it print for me. All the while I have a sweet interdimensional mansion to live in, a library of the traveller's adventures to entertain and teach me, and again, whatever I feel like printing up with the Nano-CNC (even if it does take a day or two to recharge after each use).

After 20-30 years on earth I should well and truly have control of most of my abilities, have gotten rid of the Weak drawback, and can begin to explore the multiverse. If I happen to have met anyone I want to bring with me, I can grant them eternal youth, and give them some arcane shards to help protect them (and help them cover my back). Admittedly I'll probably still be dealing with Slow Moving and Inaccurate, but with mastery of most of my other powers, and the Traveller's memories and library I should be able to sort that out, and until then it's meant to be an adventure anyway!>>6929

For beginner I prefer taking major homeless because it fully pays off the -4 penalty without having anybody chasing me at all. It was stated that I could eventually learn to control the major homeless negative, so it's a temporary problem. In the meantime, willpower will help me get back to where I want to be.

The reason why I took minor hunters over the apprentice was because the apprentice has a method of tracking me. The minor hunter only has an idea of my current general location. I think I could probably just leave the hunter in the dust with a few jumps. It seems safer than gambling my life trying to reason with the apprentice.

I think you're overestimating your chances of getting back to earth in any reasonable timeframe, we're talking an infinite multiverse that you got thrown into at random, and with Major it's going to happen more than once before you get it under control.

From the description of most of the drawbacks it seems like a 20+ year learning curve to overcome them to me. 20 years x52 weeks x1% chance = 10.4 more random jumps on the low end of average.

Homeless is undoubtedly the safest pair with Beginner, but it still means you're going to be starting from scratch in a reality probably a long way from your home dimension, with a single 1 point power.

Oops, missed the second paragraph. I think it's reasonable to assume the hunter has a way to track people. I mean, hunters are usually pretty good at tracking their prey. You may be right that you can outrun them, but I wouldn't say it's garaunteed.

[+3] Slow-moving; major - with time I'll get better and this drawback will go away, until then I'll train with my lightsaber and these new powers and I'll get to know my new waifu, the description may say she exists only to serve me but I know better, she's a human being I'm sure somewhere deep down she has her own hopes, dreams, and aspirations

[+2] The Apprentice; minor - "Dude, I didn't kill your master. Something else did, let's join forces and take care of it, and we could fight the Hunters together too, what'd'ya say pal?" he accepts, becomes the master, and trains me, easy as pie, now slow-moving only takes half the time to resolve with his help, together we face the Hunters and take down the Order to replace it with our own, one that allows for better freedom of all Travelers, then we kill the Traveler's killer, thus drawbacks become boons.

When I said willpower would help me get back to where I want to be I was not talking about Earth. I meant any world that's suitable to survive in for a homeless man. If I encounter a nasty world I'll jump to a new one and keep doing so until I find a nice world. I think that would improve my chances of immediate survival a lot more than if I was forced to survive on whatever random world I'm first throw into. Without willpower I don't have to deal with the minor hunter, but my chances of immediate survive plummet. So, I think the minor hunter is worth it.

>>6954

I don't know. The apprentice can track you because you have a fragment of power from his master and he knows that fragment well. He can sense that fragment wherever you go.

Now, look at the description for the minor follower. If you take minor follower, the follower has no reliable way to track you because it only briefly sensed your power. If you take major follower then the follower does have a way to track you - the same way that the apprentice does. It has tasted a fragment of your power and from that fragment it can now track you.

If something as powerful as the follower can't immediately track you unless it tastes a fragment of your power, then I doubt that the minor hunter could. Check out the track ability in the arcane powers section. I'd wager the hunter would try to use something like that. It would go to the general location that it sensed me at and try to collect something of mine.. but my first action after being thrown into a new world would be to teleport away to yet another world. I'd leave nothing of my own behind for the hunter to find. This is all speculation. It just doesn't make much sense to me that a lone minor hunter would be more adept at tracking than the follower.

Ahh, well fair enough then. I'm kind of assuming in an Anime protagonist kind of way that wherever Homeless first drops you off would be interesting at least :p

As to the hunter tracking you, that's a pretty good argument. I was looking at it from more of a balance issue, hunter costs more than apprentice, so should be tougher to deal with. Willpower is the only travel method that would actually allow you to get away before the hunter could find you though, so that's a good argument.

Dimensional

Wand

I'll build a few wands to give to my worshipful followers. My first wand goes to Emma so we can teleport whenever we want.

Willpower

For instant teleportation if access to wands are unavailable.

Detect

If I sense a disturbance then we will leave immediately. We are in no condition for a fight against other travellers.

Forsee

So I won't make a mistake and stumble into a trap.

Room

For storage

Physical

To be the best!

Perfect health

Coordinate

Powerhouse

Inviolable

Eternal youth

I really need this for my slaves.

Healing

Sustenance

Eldritch

True sight

To size up opponents

Shut down

Forces magic nerds to rely on their equipment.

Arcane

Awareness

So I can spy in dressing rooms.

Infer

Knowledge is power!

Mental

Record

For recording notes, messages, instructions, which universe is which, etc.

Eidetic

Makes sorting through 10 years of memories

Condition

Slaves are always fun

Memories

I'll continue the traveler's studies with my intergalactic street smarts.

Combat skill

I need to the skill to protect what's mine and claim more power.

Patience

I'm ageless so having the ability wait a few centuries for results will be the key to my success.

Equipment

My plan is to live a quiet life banging Emma in the wilderness of various worlds for a few decades until I harness my power.

Tent

Our trusty home until I master "room" or buy a house in whichever universe we're in.

Armor

Armoury

Weapons and armor are not affected by my skill "shutdown".

Gauntlet

I'll give this to Emma and train her how to fight. It was either "Gauntlet" or another set of "armoury" but I think utility of the "gauntlet" is better. I don't have an extra suit of power armor after all. It shouldn't be too hard to find her a gun.

Food printer

Eating sandwiches for 80 years can get boring, shove a few pounds of grass in this baby and we'll feast like a king.

Flying car

One method of reliable transportation that i'll store away in my room.

Domestic

I don't care for Emma Watson but who am I to deny a well trained slave?

Drawbacks

Major Late bloomer

20 years is nothing

Major Leaky

I'll live the life of a hermit for a while.

Major Slow moving

Until I master my powers i'm counting on Emma to open emergency portals.

Alternate build

Trade "willpower" and "flying car" for "grow crystal" and "spaceship"

Before I embark on my inter dimensional travels I will explore our current universe's deep space with some recording equipment and the gaunlet. After i'm done sight seeing I would surround my work in hard crystals and drop them off on earth. I'll also stop by the space station to leave them copies. I'd use the gauntlet to communicate with Earth through radio waves.

Balance wise I think the apprentice is stronger than the lone hunter, because the major apprentice is worth 6 points. Taking major apprentice just makes it so the apprentice can't be reasoned with (like the lone hunter).

The minor apprentice can be reasoned with. If you do succeed in talking him down he has the potential to become your ally. As you ally he may share with you all kinds of useful information about the multiverse. You'll be better protected as well while you're vulnerable and growing. It switches from a drawback to a huge positive. So, I think 2 points seems fair. Actually when I think about it like that I kind of regret not taking the apprentice.

Looking at her description she was an experiment in replicating wand-magic. I'd guess the traveller was trying to see if someone who played a character from another world could get the powers of that character if brought there or something.

She might not be a copy of Emma Watson so much as a mindfucked mental copy of Hermione Granger (minus magic) in the body of a clone of Emma Watson.

I'm trying to think of the different settings the Traveller might have gotten his powers and equipment from.

The kinds of powers listed are too common or varied to really say (other than the wand, which makes me think of a magic version of Sliders), but some of the equipment can be pinned down.

The ones I can place so far.

Armoury: Star Wars, obviously. It's a DL-44 blaster and a lightsaber from Star Wars.

Armour: Could be the nanosuit from Crysis, but I don't remember anything about shooting down incoming fire.

Domestic: She's based on RL Emma Watson, but it notes she's an experiment in wanded magic, so that Harry Potter on the list.

Spaceship: Mentions railguns and limited DV, so it's not like many sci-fi that ignores those. The picture is a mkII Viper and the text doesn't contradict this, so maybe nBSG.

Gauntlet: Is pretty clearly a kara-kesh from Stargate.

Tent: Sounds like it could have come out of Harry Potter again.

Egg: The description matches the element and behavior of blues from D&D.

So that's Star Wars, Crysis(???), Harry Potter, new Battlestar Galactica(?), Stargate, Dungeons and Dragons. All fairly mainstream stuff. Can anyone see any less obvious ones?

Homeless will continue to be a pain in the arse until I get it under control, but I can at least immediately Willpower my way back once it goes off. Avoiding the Hunter is easy with Willpower for mobility plus Sustenance letting me keep going indefinitely.

I might be able to find my way back to Earth quickly too. I'm assuming Subtle lets me avoid easy detection by the Order, assuming they don't have someone with the listed powers nearby. After only one shift, I should have far less difficulty running through all possible nearby destinations until I find Earth. Rapidly running through possible universes will be much less risky with Subtle to mask my arrival.

I've been working on an updated version of this and I'd like to know what people think.

It's the alpha version, I'll fill in the lore and images once I'm sure the powers work well enough.

Are the new graphics okay, or do you prefer the version 2 borders and background?

Is the switch to 1 point per power a good one? It makes putting a build together easier and all the powers are pretty potent on their own. They can be upgraded, but each upgrade can be a distinct power in its own right, so people might not like some of them being locked behind another power.

Power creep is another issue. This one is a hell of a lot stronger than the original Dimensional Traveller.

Do people prefer live images or artwork (not anime). I'd prefer to stick to a single kind where possible, but its hard to find lifelike images of magic golems that don't look shit and there are a few live images I'd like to use.

Other than that, do the powers hold together, or are there a bunch that stand out as horribly over/under powered?

Can it be 30 points instead of 20? Though I kinda perfer the 2.3 setup, that one seems to be just the right balance

So I have a nice size house and garden, the ability to abduct and condition the most beautiful women in the multiverse (keeping them forever at the peak of their beauty if I want), a library of unimaginable knowledge and the mind to understand and apply it should I wish, and the ability to set myself up as either a superhero/villain or dictator if I get bored of the perfect slavegirls and hidden secrets of reality. Sounds like it's going to be fun.

v2.3 had 50 points with 230 options to spend them on. This has 20 with 84 options. That's 22% versus 24% of options being available in favour of the new one. Are there any specific builds you really can't manage and just need more points for?

What was it about the v2 approach that you preferred? The low cost options giving a cheap but still potentially useful boost? Not needing to buy preceding powers? I could put together a lesser and greater form of each power or something along those lines. I was trying to mirror the minor and major disadvantages from v2, so just making the major powers more expensive would still fit that.
