Corporate obstruction. We should be tough enough to run the blockade.

Coffee mug. Simple really, just gun our way in and smash the thing.

Insurance policy. Survival and escort are my skills, this shouldn't be a problem.

Homeworld, because it is my duty to do so.

Upbringing:

>Frontier Colony + Frontier Spirit

It's like being the shitty small fry in the shitty small town of the universe. I enjoy frugality so the trait meshes well with me as well. Not knowing much about the outside world means I have more to experience.

Polity of Origin:

>Corporate Dominion + Sweat and Gold

It's not entirely unreasonable to be the shitty small fry, wage slaving for corporate overlords. The bonuses from the perk, and even the downsides, are very practical.

History:

>Colonist

It comes with the territory. There isn't much work to do on a budding colony other than to colonize it.

A New Life:

>Hope

Wage slavery on a space rock not fully designed to house the living might be surprisingly comfortable, convenient, and reliable, but it's ultimately still a dead end. It makes sense to want to get away from that, even if there's no pressing need or urgency to abandon it.

Sponsor:

>Ceti Trade Pact, Augustine Branch + Magellan

I crawled out from under the thumb of one corporation only to settle under the thumb of another. This isn't so bad, though. I have experience living in corporate domains and should know the best ways to carry myself in them. The perks of the sponsor also come in very handy; my greatest weakness is that I don't know a lot about the world or how to navigate it. They're experts on the subject.

Specialization:

>Exploration (Main)

It makes sense to specialize in exploration for multiple reasons. Having lived on a frontier colony, I know what to look for in potential sites for new colonies. Not knowing the recorded details of the systems I'm in is less of a drawback when I'm looking at unexplored ground in the first place.

>Asset Transport (Secondary)

Since I'm already on the lookout for potential supply routes, I might be able to put that knowledge to immediate use by transporting things through them. My sponsor specializes in the logistics of space travel, so I'd know the most efficient routes even if my exploration yields nothing of note.

Traits:

>None

I'm normal.

Skills:

>Void Piloting (Mastery)

Makes sense to master space when that's where I'll be spending the majority of my time en route.

>In-Gravity Piloting

I still need to know how to explore on land.

>Management

It's always good to know how to hold on to the resources you're putting your time and effort into gathering. It almost always comes down to money.

Cyberware:

>Logic Processor Assistant

"Just use a calculator" is a legitimate argument against picking this option, but exploration with the intent of finding suitable hosting grounds for colonization and determining the viability of potential trade routes can be made so much more efficient with one of these.

>3D Maneuvering Assistant

I'm going to spend a lot of time moving around in space and on land. Hopefully this can also interact with my piloting skills to provide additional benefit.

>Memory Assistant

Memory is important for too many reasons to list.

>Second Hand Implants

I'm listing this here to explain why I'm NOT picking this option. I'm a penny pincher and this option pinches pennies, but someone in my position knows that a single, reliable, quality tool is more beneficial than two ineffective and unreliable alternatives.

Gene Mods:

>Neural Bridge

Thinking outside the box is important enough that it's worth dedicating a gene mod toward it. You can't be a proper explorer if you're not thinking creatively.

>Micro-Gravity Adaptation

I'll be spending a lot of time in space and in the transition from high gravity to low gravity, so this is a good thing to have.

>Immunization Treatment

A must-have for exploring environments with dangerous natural hazards.

Psi Abilities:

>None

I had more important investments to make.

Weapon Preference:

>None

It's just not particularly important for me to specialize in anything specific.

Special Weapons:

>None

Standard weaponry is more practical and probably more reliable for my purposes.

Equipment:

>Abelev Hazard Suit

Useful for exploring dangerous environments.

>Waylight Exo-Skeleton

Useful for general exploration.

>CTP Data Tool

Very useful for scanning new environments to determine useful or dangerous properties.

>Echo Mapper

I'll be exploring a lot of locations that haven't been formally mapped, so this simplifies the crucial first step.

>Korovin Safe Containment

You never know what kinds of delicate or dangerous things you might find while exploring. Might come in handy for the odd transportation job, too.

Artifact:

>Life-Seed

A natural extension of the desire to colonize. I don't know its full capabilities but it might be enough to turn a hopelessly flawed planet into one ripe for the pickings, or at least push it along until it can be colonized by more traditional means.

Personal Ship:

>Omni Security Dropship

My frugality pulled through and got me an excellent ship at an excellent price. It has lots of room, which is perfect for transport jobs and also useful for extractions from recently explored areas. It's fast, which means I can put my piloting to full use. Its low firepower isn't an issue, since fighting is an absolute last resort, and I'm not planning to take the offensive. Its low comfort isn't an issue for someone who spent the majority of their life without it.

Ship Weaponry:

>Chemical Propulsion

My ship's weak reactor makes the other options less viable. I'm mostly using my weaponry for defense, which chemical propulsion weapons specialize in, so it's not much of a drawback.

Ship Upgrades:

>Ablative Armor

This came free with my ship type. Very useful for shrugging off non-ballistics from would-be attackers.

>Upgraded Point Defense

Missiles are the greatest threat remaining with ablative armor handling laser weaponry. The upgraded point defense ensures my safety.

>Magnetic Shielding

A final layer of defense to protect against propulsion weaponry. My ship's weak reactor struggles to maintain it, but fights should be few and far between enough to make up for it.

>Booster Cells

The ultimate layer of defense: evading the attackers entirely. Putting my piloting mastery to use, I should be able to entirely avoid any ship that I feel the need to.

>Basic Fabricator

Taking resources during exploration and turning them into finished products without having to leave the system is immensely useful.

Home Base:

>None

I don't need more than the basic living accomodations my ship provides. I'm sponsored by a corporate union which means I don't need to hunt down job opportunities on any given station or system. Trade can be done in between jobs and in between deliveries. If I'm lucky, I can have my fabricator work as my own personal chef, sanitizing and preparing edible flora and fauna in whatever systems I choose to call home for the time being.

Connections and Favors:

>Ginasei's Oddities

If I'm picking up weird stuff, it's nice to have a way to convert it into actual cash.

>CTPI Requisition Unit

In a way, I work for the CTPI. It's not far fetched to imagine that getting into their good graces would be rewarding, even without the perk of direct access to their data archives.

Pets:

>A Cheerful SAR Drone

>A Dutiful EC Drone

A pair of drones purchased to help ward off loneliness while still providing an obvious benefit in the field. Requiring nothing more than electricity, they wouldn't get anxious from being cramped on the ship for days, weeks, or months at a time, unlike a biological pet. Also yeah I'm gonna fuck them.

Companions:

>Yocak Bani

A lot of the things he's good at are things that can prove meaningful in any exploration effort, so having him tag along is great for my endeavors. In addition, since my efforts focus on unexplored territory, he can continue his search while mostly avoiding areas he knows will be fruitless for his own goals. There's mutual gain to be had, and hopefully that excuse will be enough to convince him to take a small pay cut.

>Mara Peray

A consultant for feral world colonization projects obviously meshes well with a colonization crew. Medicine skills also provide us with someone who has the basic first-aid knowhow.

>Brienne Robail

Since we're exploring uncharted worlds, having someone who specializes in survival can help keep us from not-surviving. If we get caught flat-footed, we have someone we can rely on to get us out in one piece.

 No.16353

Crew Structure:

>The Captain (Myself)

>The Leader (Brienne)

I, the captain, remain in charge of the job formalities and goals of each mission. It's important to keep the group organized. Taking decisions collectively is often counterproductive and inefficient.

Brienne, being the one most well-suited to surviving in harsh conditions and most likely the one with the most combat experience, is the one people look to in dangerous or in combat circumstances.

Priority Contracts:

>The Monolith

Our team, and Yocak in particular, seem well-suited to gathering intelligence on the monolith and its importance. If we can come up with clear answers in at least a few of those regards, we can start making calculated steps toward a viable solution.

>The Dragon's Hoard

Mara Peray is an expert regarding feral worlds and Brienne is an expert in surviving precarious conditions, so our team being able to pull something like this off isn't an impossibility.

>Natural Treasure

An unusual case of exploration and retrieval, but not one that seems too beyond the scope of our capabilities.

>The Auriga Passage

Again, it's an unusual case of exploration, but one that I think my ship and piloting abilities can overcome.

In the end…

I've carved out a little niche of being able to take it easy while still retaining the freedom to explore at my leisure and do as I please without running the risk of starving to death or going homeless. Started from the bottom now we here. We made it.

I almost feel disappointed that I'm not throwing myself into the line of fire or putting myself through unnecessary risks. Safety is boring.
