After: I have 2000 years stuck on this planet so might as well look for answers and find a way to revive the gods while exploring this planet at my leisure. After 2000 years if i haven't found what i'm looking for i'll do the same with the multiverse.

As a crucial part of the story is the ability to grow in power indefinitely it would be cool to choose how we grow.

Power well

Choose how your powers will grow

Kill

You feed on the life force of those beings killed by you to grow stronger. As you get stronger there will be a diminishing return. This is the well that the first monster received.

Experience

Whatever challenges you best makes you stronger. The challenge can be anything in nature but you need to have a relevant chance to fail. At least some of your growth is related to the challenge. This well is very popular among adventurers.

Knowledge

The secrets of the universe hold the keys to unlimited power. The more you learn the more your power will grow. You can gain tremendous powers through reading and research alone. But at some point only exploration of the unknown can further your knowledge.

Ancient

Your powers grow with your age. You will be at least as powerful as the most powerful being of your age. You grow without effort, but at the same time you have no influence on your own growth.

Mana

You not only store mana for use, you feed upon it to grow your essence. Leylines and fonts of magic are your most precious treasures to further your power.

Faith

You retained a shard of divine essence. Those that pray to your name donate a harmless amount of life force to you. This is far less effecient then killing and cursed with a diminishing return as well. Despite this there is no limit upon the creatures praying to you and this well is tried and true for many gods.

Sustaining injury and later recovering from such, or facing an opponent that cannot be beat- fighting and losing to later rebound and win the day!
