I agree with the whole sacrifice thing tho, the beginning options are terrible, a CYOA shouldn't tell you how killing someone close to you (your gf, your parents, your son, your friend) is going to specifically affect you, it should only tell you who you want to offer and then keep its mouth shut, you shouldn't tell the player "well you killed your dad and now you can't respect anyone ever again, sorry!"
The desire section is also pretty unnecessary, first of all it reduces the options players could have come up with themselves, like "I just want to live forever and also be a monster, perhaps discover occult shit and just use my apostle form as protection", but instead you get to only say if you want to be a warmongering retard, a sodomist, a death cultist,a sadist and someone who really likes glory. The section never really explains if this desire is going to be the single thing you will want the most or if it is simply asking you what you plan to do with your apostle powers.
The ability section could be larger, anything could be larger, really, it's way too short even compared to other DSA's CYOAs, it has a lot of potential.

As for the Desire section, a few valid points but ultimately an apostle is a inhuman being by virtue of their sacrafices. Their "desire" is their prime motivation, an almost supernatural compulsion. That the apostles [badguys in the source material] all have bad desires really is a no brainer.
And length, that is personal opinion, but it is tight, compact and is better for a short browse but with some creativity could be a decent writing exercise.

I don't disagree with that, I disagree with limiting the type of bad desires they have to horny, angry, sadist, serial killer and attention whore. I'm not saying I can't just ignore that part and write in my build what I would do anyway, it just annoys me because it's such an unnecessary section.
And yes, it is a personal preference, I would rather have it be longer, can't deny at its current lenght it tickled my imagination and made me think about my life inside of this world. I don't hate the CYOA, I love almost everything made by DSA, this one just happens to not offer many writing prompts options.

I'm fine with it. It could easily be just a supernaturally enforced consequence. My issue is that none of the offered perks is worth amputating a part of my personality AND sacrificing someone close to me. My issue is that the entire premise is a sucker's game. I'll start out weak and do battle with any weaker apostle I find, and it should be easy to sniff them out. I plan to go to the Abyss full-rage and full Death Emission if it comes to it; if I can kill enough and develop my soul strength, maybe I can return to Earth and possess a fresh corpse. A century long struggle in the Abyss may be required though. Before all that I should seek out a high sorcerer and become a magi while learning about all these esoteric forces. I guess I have no reason to NOT physically train to ball-crushing proportions.
